This is by far the best battery charger I've ever owned. But it has a few issues. First the good things. It charges 8 AA or AAA cells. In normal mode it takes 2 to 3 hours, but you can select turbo mode, and it charges in 1 hour. (But the documentation warns that turbo mode might shorten battery life.) It also has mode that evaluates and conditions batteries. It charges, discharges, and recharges the batteries. This takes the better part of day, but it really works, and it reports the mAh capacity. I had some old batteries that my old charger would claim to charge much faster that the others, but the they ran down much faster, too. Two conditioning cycles with this charger and they were working as expected. It runs on both 120 and 240 VAC. Now for the nit picks. The interface is weird and you had better keep the instructions right beside the charger. For example to enter the conditioning mode with multiple batteries you have to insert one battery, then within 5 seconds press the CONDITION button, then insert the remaining batteries. On the display there are numbers 1 to 8 for the battery slots. There is a triagle that appears below the number. They can blink if various combinations. How does one interpret that? Apparently if the number but not the triangle is blinking the battery is charging, if both are blinking it indicates a battery fault. But it take careful reading of the manual to figure this out. Other strange things are that you are supposed to plug the AC adapter into the charger first, then plug the AC adapter into the AC power. Why should that matter? You are advised to insert the batteries in left-to-right order. There is a backlight and you can have it on or off. But to do that you must press the CONDITION and TURBO buttons at the same time. But if you remove power, it forgets the setting. The unit contains a fan. It is not very noisy, but you will definitely notice it in a quite room.

Have a Turbo Battery pack that has died twice. The initial cost, the first repair cost and either buying a new turbo or getting a second repair would come close to $+. Bought two of these for $ along with rechargeable double A's. Works great while costing much less!

It's a great reliable battery that will now be used all the time instead of my Turbo 2x2.
