Low Light Mirrorless Camera 2018

IMO, Nikon did well with this mirrorless generation using their experience gained as one of the first prime-time digital companies with the D1 and D100, to the ground-breaking D3 and several generations of the Nikon 1 mirrorless system. The files out the gate even at 24 mp are phenomenal! Low light images easy to process. It's like Nikon's done all the work to get you great files and it's just a matter of fine-tuning once you start processing them. Initial set-up took little time and within a couple of days, my fingers mapped easily to the controls and I was off and running. Size and weight are about right, a little larger and heavier than my m43 system in hand, but the files are much nicer! Autofocus? With the 2.0 update, no issues for my work so far, usually in dark churches with Hail Mary lighting. With my shift lenses in the field, the focus peaking makes tilting a breeze! The viewfinder is bright and I really can't see any of the pixels in the display. Noise? Silent in the church and even with the mechanical shutter, much better than most cameras. But what's the best thing? The image quality! Even at 24mp, a 16x24 looks spectacular on paper! Low light? As good so far as the D3s and probably better since there's double the pixels and a couple more generations newer sensor and electronics. Will this replace my D3/D3s & D700? More than likely. Better IQ, smaller, lighter, larger files. Battery life? Much better than stated, not as good as the D700/D800 using the same batteries, but much, much better than my m43. I shoot a day and have power to burn with the Z6. The m43, 3-4 batteries/day is typical. All and all, ergonomics, set-up, use and images a huge success for Nikon!

Overall a great camera for the price. Low light performance is not the greatest, but in good light is provides perfectly clear HD footage. It is a little small to hold on to. Transfer of HDV to Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 was perfectly smooth after installing the HDV codec.

Decided to switch systems, the best decision ever. This Camera is incredible. The Low light performance blows my mind and the video is incredible. I want to show the difference between my old camera, photo on the left shot at 1,600 ISO and the one on the right shot with the Sony @ 10,000 ISO. Noise reduction was not applied to the images.

I needed a quality camera that was light. I'm not able to drag my DSLR's around all the time. This is an acceptable choice. Low light is a little noisy, but for most of my work it does very well.

This camera handles anything I need it to do. Low light capabilities are amazing and the leaf shutter and built in ND filter provide great opportunities for shooting in mid-day sun. This is my everyday and everywhere camera.

This is the camera you want if you're looking to step up your game! The picture quality is stellar! Low light is also the best I've seen! It fits.comfortably in my hands also which is big for me.

Just buy it. I don't even know what else to say. Vari-ND and Low Light alone almost makes this the perfect camera, not to mention all the other specs and small ergonomic form factor. I love that I can rig it out pretty huge or just keep it small.

This plate is a great adapter for a PTZ camera to a light stand and even better when paired with the KUPO Low and Mighty stand. It will allow you to mount to a baby pin or in a junior receiver. The only thing I wish it had is a bubble level.
