Lumix G85 Review

I use it with my Lumix G85 and it fits and works. This will help a lot with long video recording sessions.

I have had my G85 for a few months and have been on a vacation where it has seen quite a bit of use.  I am impressed with the image quality over my older GX-1 that has the same sized sensor.  The newer sensor is significantly better in all ways. Pros: - Color is more accurate - Perfect ergonomics for me.  I have small hands so the grip and buttons fall into the right place. - Dynamic range is wider by around 2 more stops - High ISO is much cleaner with less noise.  The GX-1 really topped out at 800 where the G85 can handle 3200 well and 6400 is very usable. - Video is really improved at both 1080 and 4K. -  The flip screen is a godsend for macro photography and video work. - The eye-level viewfinder is just awesome and is fully usable with my glasses. -  The 12-60 Lumix lens is extremely good.  I wish there had been an option to buy the Leica version but I can live with this for now. - Wireless control from my Android phone. Cons: - No tethering to a PC.  The G9 has that. - No high-megapixel image combining such as the Olympus and Lumix G9. - No headphone jack.  You can rig up a micro-HDMI to VGA adapter that has a headphone jack but it is kind of dumb that you have to do it that way. I would have liked the G9 but I could not justify the almost $900 price jump at this time.

I bought this camera for the 4K video capabilities and was extremely impressed. I had been debating between a more expensive DSLR or the Lumix G85 - and I am so glad I went with the G85. First - the higher priced DSLR's usually record in 1080 instead of 4K, so the image quality (for video) is better. Second - the G85 features exceptional image stabilization which is crucial for professional quality handheld shots. Third - the G85 also features weather-proofing which keeps me at ease when shooting outside. I'd recommend buying a faster lens with an aperture of F/2 or larger to achieve the same DOF as a full frame DSLR. With the smaller image sensor, you'll need a wider aperture to achieve the same look. However, there are several affordable lenses on the market that will achieve this. ThePanasonic 25mm f/1.7 is the most affordable, but theMitakon 25mm f/0.95 can create truly stunning bokeh for a 4/3 camera. I also purchased theRokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine for extreme close-ups or distant subjects. All of these lenses, paired with the Lumix G85 offer exceptional bokeh that will instantly give your shoot a professional look. Just make sure to use the focus assist feature on the G85 with those wide apertures!

I purchased this to protect my Lumix G85. It fits the camera body [without a lens] nicely. The Bodybag is a snug but not overly tight fit. The hook and loop fastener is secure but easily opened. It is a perfect protection option for this camera. I would have no problem carrying my camera in a jacket or vest pock using this product. I definitely would recommend this product.

Although theres a slight delay in the view (using it with Lumix G85) - its bright and configurable, has many features, has HDMI loop-over and in general - its very useful - especially in that price tag. Im satisfied and happy I purchased this one.

Honestly I didn’t have high expectations for this lens. It has become my daily driver for my Lumix G85, the images come out sharp and honestly love the look it brings out.

I have been a long time Lumix user using the g85, and g9 m1 and I tell you the only issues with these cameras have been the auto focus system and have you always had to use manual focus. Well, they finally fixed it. The g9m2 the autofocus on this camera is incredible! Stays locked in no matter what.

I'm still getting to know my new camera. It's an upgrade for me from the G Lumix series. I've been practicing with the Hummingbirds and having fun comparing photos from this G85 to my 11 year old DMC-G6. I really love the G series mirrorless cameras. The G85 weighs about a pound more than my original camera. Natural lighting shots are great! I need to spend more time working with low-light photos but I think it will work out great. I sent my first G85 back as it would not focus in low-light. I believe it was defective. B & H replaced it with immediately after I called. The first photo I posted was taken with the Lumix G85, the second photo with my DMC-G6.

I'm a hobbiest and I wanted the best bag for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-G85. I have one other Porta Brace bag and loved it. So I got another for this camera. I splurged on the digital camo and it looks better in person. Well worth the extra cost. The bag fits all of my accessories and extra 45-150mm lens with, so no space issues since the inside is customizable. The shoulder strap is perfect and grips just right. You feel this bag is secure on your shoulder. Large side pocket that is sealed by strong velcro. A great space for the small bits.
