Lyres Stringed Instrument

Nothing to say that hasn't been said. Rycote lyres are the best, most durable or there. Use nothing else.

Action is very close to a stringed piano pedal. Holds the notes well. Great product and price

Perfect. My children can now practice their stringed instruments at their desks or any table without having to set up a regular sized music stand. We love the fact that it is manufactured in the USA.

Upgraded the lyres on my 80s windscreen and threw on this caterpillar suit. Works great!

Fine instrument, does what it should do and more. I recommend it.

I like these a lot; they noticeably reduce vibrations from the stand with all mics compared to most factory clips. I use these with all my SDC's universally without issue. They are much more effective at vibration reduction than the INV-HG, but can't support as much weight. They'll hold all but the heaviest or narrowest SDC's. Usefully you can move the lyres around between the mounting points with a hex wrench, so it's easier to hold shorter (like 84-style) or tapered SDC's (like M221's or similar). They struggle a little with very heavy mics like sE RN17's (which are also unusually narrow) or Aston Starlights, but it seems like you can purchase stronger lyres, or even stick in a third one in the middle if you want. I keep one pair with the farthest lyre brought back to the mid position, and another pair with the farthest lyre left as factory, so I can choose whichever pair works with the mics I'm using. Best feature is by far the cable management/strain relief clip on the base of the mic clip. I wish all mic clips had that; saves so much time managing cables during setup.

I purchased this to use with my CS1e. Works great, well balanced, and durable. Lyres have worked well with both wind screens and rycote softies so far. I expect nothing less from Rycote, but it's a great product.

I bought the Rycote INV6, and immediately upgraded to these #042216 82 shore grey stiffer lyres, and I couldn't be ANY happier! They're the perfect stiffness for running a single active stereo bar DINa/DIN/ORTF/NOS/PAS for my Schoeps MK4's & mk41's actives, or even for running a custom 4-channel stereo mount DINa/DIN with all 4 capsules + Movo WS80 or WST50 screens :) Perfect mounts/shocks/stiffness for taping in extreme or odd conditions and I haven't heard ANY audible noise because of handling or bumps into my stereo pairs since buying the INV6 HG's July 2015! I'm just bummed that I didn't switch from my old Schoeps a20s shocks- Rycote INV's sooner :) I highly advise everyone to upgrade to these stiffer 82 shore lyres if you're running active stereo pairs like I do, or a big shotgun mic :) And if you're STILL running elastic shocks, then I question why? The lyres technology is -12db quieter than the nicest elastic shocks, so for me and the adverse conditions that I often tape in, it just makes sense to have the best shocks available when running over $2k in capsules alone on any given night :) And you can STILL get 2 INV6 HG's for the price of 1 Schoeps a20s these days, so like I said, makes no sense to me why people still use elastic shocks when a better, cheaper option is available?

Without a doubt, this is the best shockmount I've used! I use mine with an NTG4, and it virtually eliminates handling and shock noises. The only thing I've noticed is that with the NTG4, which is short, you have to move the Lyres to the center positions to use the Rode WS6 wind shield..... which is then front heavy and droops. This is not a flaw with the SM4-R, just a compatability issue with mic and windscreen combination. Without the windshield, or with a shorter windshield, you can set the Lyres at the wider positions, and the problem goes away. With the NTG4+, which is longer it's not an issue.
