This device makes a solid state drive (SSD) compatible for a Mac Pro. The hard drive slides that come with the computer only mount 3.5 inch drives. This enables you to take advantage of the new SSD's fast speed and reliability. It comes with four mounting screws so that you can mount your SSD (sold separately).

This external hard drive is fantastic. It is compatible with USB 2.0 and 3.0. It is very fast compared to the USB flash drives we have been using in the computer labs. I would purchase more like these as my budget allows.

I've been backing up my mechanical hard drive to an external one for years, so the docking station and cloning software was already in place. If you still have a mechanical hard drive, switching to an SSD is highly recommended, and Micron SSD's are definitely the best brand in my humble opinion (I'm a retired electronic engineer).

This is a great way to keep using an SSD (which was an internal hard drive) as an external hard drive. The directions are much improved from the same model that I bought two months ago. It's easy to insert the SSD into the case if you keep an eye on where parts fit together..
