Mac Os Copy Photos To External Hard Drive

I use it as an external hard drive for photos.

This external hard drive houses all my photos.

I wanted an external hard drive to put all my digital photos on. I have both Mac computers as well as PC's. Other hard drives would not let me read the Jpeg files on both computers. This was allowed me to read and write on both. All my pictures are backed up! Awesome!

I wanted a basic back-up storage external hard drive for music, pictures and OS backup. After reading many reviews, I purchased this product. It is exactly what I wanted, basic storage with no invasive back-up programs getting in the way. Great purchase and would recommend it!!

As a Classic Mac Pro 4,1 user - now upgraded to 5,1 and with a Metal capable GPU - my original system hard-drive (2009) with earlier Mac OS was not mounting as there are incompatibility issues with trying to use the original GPU and the 'newer' Metal GPU when both are installed. All the files (not the original OS's) mounted on this device were recognised by the current OS (2019) as a USB 3 external hard drive. No problems.

A great little hard drive. It comes with two cables for the different USB ports, which is a plus. It comes formatted in Mac OS Extended, which, while making it Mac specific, makes it easy to partition. I partitioned mine to use 1/4 of the space as a Time Machine, with the rest for file storage.

Good drive, but if you are a Mac user, be sure to reformat the Drive to MAC OS Journaled. It used to be the case that ExFat was okay if you needed to share a drive between a Mac and a PC user. But with the newer OS updates, my ExFat drives no longer read the data in Final Cut Pro X. What a hassle! I have to buy another one of these just to use it as a transfer tool so I can re-format my ExFat drives. That takes a lot of time and money. Hope that helps someone out there NOT to make the mistake I made.

Just backed up 4 tb worth of photos to this hard drive, took 2 days to copy, but transferred with out any problems. Big increase in speed now when accessing the library. So far everything is a big improvement and I'm happy with my purchase!
