As a Classic Mac Pro 4,1 user - now upgraded to 5,1 and with a Metal capable GPU - my original system hard-drive (2009) with earlier Mac OS was not mounting as there are incompatibility issues with trying to use the original GPU and the 'newer' Metal GPU when both are installed. All the files (not the original OS's) mounted on this device were recognised by the current OS (2019) as a USB 3 external hard drive. No problems. 5 |

A great little hard drive. It comes with two cables for the different USB ports, which is a plus. It comes formatted in Mac OS Extended, which, while making it Mac specific, makes it easy to partition. I partitioned mine to use 1/4 of the space as a Time Machine, with the rest for file storage. 5 |

Good drive, but if you are a Mac user, be sure to reformat the Drive to MAC OS Journaled. It used to be the case that ExFat was okay if you needed to share a drive between a Mac and a PC user. But with the newer OS updates, my ExFat drives no longer read the data in Final Cut Pro X. What a hassle! I have to buy another one of these just to use it as a transfer tool so I can re-format my ExFat drives. That takes a lot of time and money. Hope that helps someone out there NOT to make the mistake I made. 5 |

I bought this drive as an emergency and backup drive to have while traveling. It is small, lightweight, and doesn't require a separate power cord. It is excellent for the purpose and a very good value.I have a 500 GB MyPassport that has been in constant service for more than two years as a Time Machine drive for an iMac. That My Passport has performed flawlessly.This My Passport does not come GUID formatted (required in order to install OS-X), but GUID can be added easily with Apple's Disk Utility. I've partitioned the drive into a 250 GB bootable OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) partition and a 750 GB Time Machine partition. 5 |
