Mac Thunderbolt Ethernet Adapter Setup

This is the only way I could connect my 27 in. Thunderbolt Display. The adapter works with any Thunderbolt device: Ethernet adapter, hard drives, etc. Well worth the price.

This was my first NAS setup for video editing, and it's been fantastic. A bit involved to set up, but the capabilities it has are incredible once you watch a few tutorials. I'm connected to mine through a 10g ethernet connection, using an ethernet to thunderbolt adapter to go into my MacBook Pro. It's nearly as fast as the thunderbolt RAID I have on my desk, but much larger and more powerful.

Works fine with Windows and Mac. This adapter can basically max out a gigabit Ethernet connection. I have it connected to a USB port on the back of my monitor so that a single cable gets me not only power and video, but also a better internet connection.

Backward compatibility is important when you have been in this game for long (my first Mac bought in 1993). This adapter made it possible to daisy-chain an old LaCie Firewire 400 drive containing old photos through first a Firewire to Thunderbolt 2 adaptor and then the current Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter. Plug and play. Worked like a charm.

Worked well to connect a LaCie 6Big Thunderbolt 3 RAID (via a Thunderbolt 2-3 adapter) to an older Mac mini. Note that this *is* a Thunderbolt 1/2 (older minidisplayport-style connector) cable.

I used this adapter to connect my 2013 Mac Pro (Thunderbolt 2) to a new Thunderbolt 3 hard drive. I was able to edit 4K video files off of the new drive. I then bought a 2019 Mac Pro and was able to use this adapter to access a Thunderbolt 2 hard drive. Win-win.

The G-RAID Thunderbolt has been a great addition to my system setup: A Mac Pro connected to a 4TB G-Drive external unit (also previously purchased through B&H). I was looking for a redundant backup storage solution. This Thunderbolt unit is FAST! I'm able to edit in Final Cut Pro in realtime and can copy files to and from very efficiently. It's also pretty quiet, I have these devices stacked and sitting beside my monitor on my desktop. I like the fact that the G-RAID allows for swappable drives. I have found G-Technology products to be reliable and well-constructed. Did I mention that they look great, too? Not much to say, it's a USB to Ethernet adapter. Works exactly like you would want it to.

Easy setup out of the box. Included power-over-ethernet adapter is great for installation options. I have mine sitting on top of a desk. Great range and connectivity for all of my devices including laptops, gaming consoles, and smart home devices.
