Macbook Power Adapter Connected But Not Charging

Awesome device. Works really well. Power adapter is not necessary to be able to use it, but I would recommend it if you have multiple devices connected a d want to power your laptop with it.

I got this for my new Macbook Pro Touch Bar with only USB-C connections. Everything connected to this adapter works 100%! I have also the Apple USB Type-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter and the Naztech USB Type-C Hub 5 wich are not reliable and the StarTech beats them! Ill buy more of this item!

The USB Type-C to USB Type-A Adapter worked exactly right when I connected my Sony cameras to my MacBook Pro and uploaded my photos to the laptop photo app.

Bought this adapter to connect my 500 GB internal HD, removed from my old Macbook Pro, as an external HD to my iMac. Everything works as expected. Since the drive still has the OSX 10.6.8 on it, I can hold down the Option key at startup and choose to boot into the external HD. Speed is of course a bit slower since my iMac has only USB 2 ports, but nonetheless it works fine as an additional storage. For a little over $10, this adapter is perfect for reusing an old internal HD instead of buying a new external HD. It's a connector, so don't expect it to protect the HD. The connection is pretty secure, not lose at all. It worked just as well (and faster of course) connected to my Macbook Air's USB 3 port. However, personally I think it is more suitable to be used with a desktop computer than a laptop as you don't want to move the HD around while connected to the computer! Highly recommended if you want to reuse a 2.5 internal HD.

I'm using this with my older Macbook pro that does not have USB-C or ethernet ports. I just plugged this adapter in my USB-A port and it worked right away. The computer saw it and connected to my network without any issues. This will come in super handy when I need the fastest signal possible. Or if the wireless connection is spotty. I did a speed test with this adapter connected and I was getting over 500 mbps upload and download speeds on my work network connection, which is as fast as I can expect to get. I'm happy with this adapter and it would be hard to beat at this price. This is a very affordable solution if your computer does not have its own ethernet port. Pros: 1) It works, exactly as advertised. 2) Connected devices show no signs of performance changes. 3) Has a light, that indicates that the hub is connected. 4) Just plug it in and it works. Cons: 1) The cord is 6 long, and is pig-tailed connected. You cannot replace it with a longer cord (although you could use a USB extension cord). Neutrals: 1) The casing is plastic. But if feels strong and will not easily crack or break. I would not step on it. But if should be fine for nearly any use. 2) Only one mechanical type, USB powered, hard drive will function at a time. Those mechanical (spinning disks) drives need more power than a SSD (solid state USB drive). This is not the fault of the hub, as the hub derives its power from your computer's USB port. If you want to connect multiple, mechanical, USB powered drives to a hub, then you will need a hub that plugs into your electrical outlet. But if you are plugging in external USB drives that have their own power source (have their own electrical cords to go to your wall outlets), then this hub will work well. Also, if you are plugging in multiple flash drives, which consume little power, then this hub will work well. My main gripe is the short cable that is connected to the hub. Otherwise, this is a very good hub.

I was hesitant to buy this computer as it is the base model that comes from the macbook pro. But I was more than surprised. its power is unmatched and I liked it a lot for the work I do. Also the service from BH is incredible. I highly recommend them.

Fast charged my phone in no time and does great with a USB-C laptop. The USB-C laptop power adapter allows for easy charging of the power bank. USB A option for all your non USB-C charging options. LED indicator for approximately how much charge is in the pack. This is perfect companion for business trips where there are not a lot of convenient power adapter options.  

Power Adapter works as expected. Super fast charging compared to older adaptors.
