I use this device for the last 6 month, all my HDD are connected there to my MacBook Pro with USB C.  There's no issue with data transfer with full load.

When I purchased this I only thought it was USB-C for my new MacBook but to a pleasant surprise and my lack of reading descriptions it turns out to be both USB-c and regular USB. This thing is great but super tiny and I will probably loose it.
