Mackie Control Midi Implementation

So I purchased these even though I own a set of the B7c by Aputure. I can't begin to tell you how much better the user experience is on the Nanbulbs. The implementation on the control box (very much like Astera's) is fantastic. There are no confusing combinations of buttons you have to memorize or linking to an app that takes way too long to sync and setup. It is, over all, one of the best user experiences I have had with a product. When I'm on a gig, these are now my go to bulbs and I highly recommend these over the Aputure ones.

I have 4 Neo 2s, and while they are OK, and I like the AA battery implementation, the Neo3 outclasses it in every way. Much more power, much more sophisticated control layout, and easier implementation even without Ap controls....which work quite well as well. In emergency, I can use them as continuous light source either for focusing, or even exposure with ISO 2500, f4, 1/250 sec into umbrella at about 6 feet from subject and two lights. In candid photo situations shooting individual or groups in convention settings at 10--15 feet with flash mode I can use 800-1000 ISO f2, 1/200 sec and get good results as direct flash held manually above the camera. While no where near the power of speedlights, with current camera's capabilities to shoot at higher ISO, they are definitely usable. You must use guide number methods as there is no TTL function, and with units I use generic radio remotes to fire them from camera mounted trigger units. One note, is that flash meters do not appear to read the flash output from these units or the Neo2, so experimentation with exposures and subsequent usage of guide numbers will still offer quick adjustment of aperture to control exposures as long as you are shooting within about 20 feet of your subjects, and have fast glass. The massive number of shots on a battery charge and very fast recycle means no HVP needed for extended shooting.

Brilliant little mic. Genius in it's design from the standpoint of implementation of modern digital control & firmware. It's light, extremely versatile and sounds beyond it's price point. Rode has made a real winner. I predict it will dominate the market.

I edit videos for corporations and non-profits. I needed something simple, high quality and small to control volume and switch between input sources. The Mackie Big Knob passive fit my needs perfectly. I've used the original Big Knob in the past, but it would overkill for my home edit system with a BlackMagic Design Intensity Pro interface and KRK Rockit 5 monitors. If you have self powered speakers and an audio/video interface without a volume control, the Mackie Big Knob Passive is what you need. Transparent sound control and dead simple to set up.

I use the product to control Ableton Live and Reason and it is spectacular! It lets me have great hands-on control, the keys are amazingly expressive, the drum pads are great, and sliders are awesome too. This is for sure a great MIDI keyboard and easily compares to any MIDI keyboard out there. One con though is that the encoders are a little loose feeling, but it's not bad once you get used to it.

The Korg nanoKontrol Studio is one of the USB MIDI keyboards certified for use with a Sound Device MixPre 10ii recorder. It connects to the USB-C port of the MixPre, and is automatically recognized and configured. The faders and start/stop controls are marked and permanently configured, as are the record and mute buttons. The dials control the trim, low cut frequency and pan settings, depending on the selected scene. It's all very straight-forward for real time control, superior in every way to the tiny knobs and endless menus of the MixPre.

For the price, the korg sq-1 can't be beat. I can use this to control all my synths including a Moog sub phatty, arturia minibrute, kawai k1 and a korg volca beats. Its compact, sturdily built and can be used with both midi and cv. It comes with 2 aa batteries (it can be powered by batteries or usb) and a midi to 1/4 input converter. I only wish it had come with some patch cables in order to readily be used to sequence via cv. I made the mistake of assuming it came with and i had to run out and buy some. Otherwise i am very pleased with the sq-1 and would highly recommend it.

Does literally everything you could want in a midi utility device including midi over wifi with no noticable latency, advanced midi translations, and up to 30 usb port extention to stack and rout all of your midi usb devices, you can control it remotley with a computer, ips device or rasbery pi, I programed my rasbery pi to control the system with all of my bomeboxes and comuputers sending and receiving midi, all of midi device are accessible by any other midi device or computer on my studios network, truley a gamechanger!
