The ES-2 is more deluxe but this one does what is needed and once set up, is just as easy to use as the fancier version. This ES-1 is especially the choice for someone experienced and who already has a few other useful devices on hand. For such a person ... like me ... this device NOT LIMITED to the specific lenses that Nikon built it for and is also not limited to only 1:1 use ... IOW it can crop and it can fit many other lenses from various formats of cameras. The 2 keys to making it verrrry versatile are: A. Step up, or down, rings if your lens is not 52mm filter size. B. A set of very basic obsolete manual extension tubes [not need to be for Nikon]. Most of these old sets use 52mm M-F tubes of 3 different lengths. The 52mm tubes come in handy for adapting the ES-1 to macro lenses of longer than 55 or 60mm FL. If none of that makes sense to you, you should get the ES-2 instead of the ES-1. 5 |

I needed a windscreen for my Beyerdynamic M58. The OEM ones were $17-$21...for a piece of foam? I wish I had an unlimited budget but that's not the case so I was happy to find this one at B&H. $ (including shipping) later I had what I needed. Boy, this was a hard find! They're out of stock just about everywhere right now...but it's easy to see why! This little piece of magic works exactly as intended and is phenomenal at redirecting air to avoid plosives into my Sennheiser MHK416. I've not had to edit out plosives ever since putting this thing to use. It has been great for my voice over work! 5 |
