More sturdy than plastic and less likely to be damaged in cross-threading. Though aluminum may bend, if reasonably careful is less likely to break than other plastic rings. 5 |

I have 4 of these. They took the place of random storage in plastic bags and the bottom of drawers. I like them because they are waterproof and secure, yet easy to open without breaking a fingernail, unlike some other competitors. Not expensive and highly recommended. 5 |

I am using this lens hood as a replacement for the hard plastic hood on my 18-250 telephoto lens. More convenient than having to take the plastic one off/on each time I take out or put my camera back in the bag. 5 |
