This is my first cine lens, i??ve never use the manual iris before and i like it and how it makes a little more professional the work i make with dslr.

My first DSLR after switching from film SLRs. This camera is great for low light photos without using flash. Super in restaraunts and other public places for non-flash photoshooting. Works great for MACRO photography even with the kit lens. Takes excellent images in the full auto modes as well as the manual modes with manual lenses. This camera is an all around excellent buy. Super bang for the buck.

This is my first DSLR camera and I must say it is an excellent camera. Even in auto mode the pictures are beautiful. The manual explains everything in detail.

This camera has been a nice transition from my Nikon entry level DSLR. It takes great photos, provides enough manual control, and is small enough to easily carry around. The menu functions are good once you get the hang of them, but I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the digital viewfinder. Although, that shouldn't really be a criticism. The autofocus and manual focus controls are good and quick. Overall this is a great camera with excellent photo quality due to the large sensor.

I purchased this lens to do 3D virtual real estate tours with my DSLR for superior quality on higher end listings, rather than my 360 camera for quick & dirty tours. The lens is razor sharp, and my stitching software has a lens profile for it, saving much time in my workflow. Bear in mind this is a manual focus AND exposure lens with a dedicated aperture ring, and no electronic contacts. You focus manually, AND you set the APERTURE ON THE LENS, a la 1987 and prior. Again, if you shoot Nikon, this won't be much different than what you're used to. Your DSLR (at least a Canon) won't know what aperture it's set at, so it will read 0.0 on the camera. So even when manually setting the aperture, you can't use the internal light meter on the camera. You will need to (a) meter with a separate handheld meter; (b) take test shots and chimp; or (c) wing it. Not as difficult as it sounds, especially if you have a decent eye for exposure. While this lens isn't a bank-breaker, it's not super cheap either. With the no frills features, it's obvious they channeled all of the price into the optics and build quality, both of which are outstanding for the price (fisheyes are not cheap to make). If you can deal with a full manual lens, I highly recommend you consider this one if you're in the market for a fisheye on a full frame.

So far I have taken the SL1 out a few times. It is noticeably smaller than other cameras in its class but for me this was not an issue as I have not consistently handled other DSLR's. The picture quality is as great as I had anticipated. Prior to purchasing this camera I had spent time in educating myself of the different manual settings. I highly recommend doing this so you can get the most out of your purchase. The camera does shoot well in auto for most quick shots, but I have achieved much higher quality images in manual in the short time that I have owned this camera.Bottom line, you will not be disappointed if you purchase the SL1. In my opinion it is a great entry level camera at a reasonable price. The quality and feel of the camera is not an issue as I had worried purchasing this smaller frame DSLR.

This camera is the perfect camera if you are looking for the manual options that a DSLR provides with the compact convenience of a point and shoot. It takes beautiful pictures!! we couldn't be happier with our purchase!

This is my first DSLR, upgraded from a rather new point & shoot that had full manual control, but I still wanted more out of my photos. I'm the type of person that over-researches before I buy something even remotely significant. But my decision to buy this DSLR was rather easy. The features and quality compared to price is unbeatable. I don't mind not having Canon or Nikon written on my camera. I know I got the the most bang for my buck. I also know Pentax has a long and reputable history with optic technology. I've had it for 2 weeks now and I can't be happier. I still have a lot to learn about what this camera can do! If you're new to creative photography or want to upgrade from a point & shoot this is a perfect choice. Features that stand out in this price range: ISO up to 12,800, HDR setting, fast max shutter speed.

I am completely new to the DSLR cameras and I find this camera very easy to use. The instruction manual is well written and easy to follow. The camera takes exceptional photos with the different settings available. It is light and small which is preferable to my wife who has slightly smaller hands.
