I enjoy still photography and prefer using my older, manual focus lenses. The A7 II provides in-body stabilization and effective magnification (approximately 5x and 10x) so getting perfect focus...even with manual focus lenses and 70 year-old eyes...is easy. I have two manual lenses that I simply love. One is my Nikon 50mm f/1.2 AI-S lens and the other is a Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 lens with a Nikon mount. I mount both lenses to the A7 II using a cheap Nikon F to Sony E adapter and they work great. I have other mirror-less cameras...but none of them provide the combination of being full-frame cameras with in-body stabilization and effective magnification. The A7 II does that and, as such, is perfect for me and my legacy lenses. I bought the A7 II with the Sony 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 lens because the combo deal was simply too good to pass up. This lens is an auto focus lens and while not a fast lens it does what it does well. No, it's not a $1,000+ Zeiss competitor...but it's nice to have it when needed. 5 |
