I do protect with filters and find the B&W offers both excellent mechanical construction with good glass. More expensive, but so are the lenses I pair it with. 5 |

Built to the level of quality expected in professional scientific instruments. 85mm aperture is perfect balance between portability and adequate light gathering power for most viewing situations. Haven’t used it much yet because of winter weather, but views of M42 exhibited high contrast with excellent resolution of 4 Trapezium stars at 67x.
