Mechanical Keyboard Video Editing

I began video editing in the waning days of tape-to-tape editing when we used huge (by today's standards) mechanical editing systems. I don't miss those days at all... with one exception.The mechanical systems I used all included something called a jog-shuttle wheel that enabled you to easily move forward and backward in your footage either frame-by-frame, or at user-controlled continuously-variable speeds. I've used several digital video editing programs that attempt to simulate the function of a jog-shuttle wheel using mouse controls to manipulate an on-screen representation of the jog-shuttle. The effect is NOTHING like an actual jog-shuttle control.I cannot begin to describe how much of a productivity boost this device gives you. The five-button layout (buttons can either be custom programmed by you, or you can choose a default set of button behaviors), great design, and heavy, no-slip construction enable to sit it off to the side and use it without even looking at it.This device give you a degree of control when navigating your video timeline that you may never have experienced before.

It gives you the nice, clean feeling of a mechanical keyboard, but it's silent!!

Great entry level mechanical keyboard

Keyboard is a must have for casual editing with Avid.

It's taken my video editing workflow to a whole new level. Getting my hands off the keyboard and onto the edit is great! Could use two more buttons.

This is a replacement for a Bella video editing keyboard, and an improvement when combined with Contour Designs Shuttle Express; a perfect combination as the jog/shuttle can be placed on either side of the keyboard. I had expected to use only for video editing, but I now use it as my full time keyboard. It has a great feel.

Great for video editing and general scrolling. Much more convenient than my previous keyboard/shuttle combo, as I prefer the jog/shuttle left of the keyboard. Highly recommended.

I have been doing a lot more video and audio editing and wanted to use 2 screens with my laptop. So, I got a docking station but, still needed a keyboard and mouse. I initially tried to use a regular mouse but, you lose all the advantages of the shortcuts that are built into the Mac. I’ve owned the Magic Mouse in the past but, I have a very tight space on my desk so, I went with the track pad. I can’t complain. Worked perfectly upon connecting and have never had a problem. I also added the Apple extended keyboard and both of these together have made my work flow so much better.

My right hand/forearm was getting fatigued during marathon video editing sessions with a mouse and keyboard.I now use the Shuttle Xpress with my left hand, which has been programmed with my most frequently used keyboard keystrokes. The jog wheel is great! The inner wheel is frame by frame, and the outer ring FF or RW with differing speeds.Works well with Grass Valley Edius. Can be customized for any other software. Very nice tool that I should have bought long ago.My right hand and arm doesn't ache so much anymore!
