I like the high resolution and the subtlety of the metallic effect. It adds some very nice enhancement without looking gimmicky. When you want to make things obvious than the Metallic Silver is the way to go. But when you want the extra reflection without being so obvious, this Metallic Pearl is great.

I recently purchase a pack of Epson's relatively new Metallic Photo paper. I've been using it to print black and white photos on my Epson 3880. I have been quite impressed with the result. The tonal range is great; deep blacks while preserving highlight and the sharpness of the images is impressive. From some angles the images appear a little glittery, but overall I'm very pleased. This paper starts to bring back some of the qualities of traditional silver photo paper. I like the fact that unlike some metallic papers the whites and borders are white and not a silver metallic. Have not tired this with color images yet

I had some metallic prints made at a photo lab and liked the results, so I decided to try Inkpress's Metallic paper. I have to say I'm impressed when I used it on my Canon 9500 photo printer. Inkpress recommends using the Glossy II setting for the 9500 and that no ICC profile is necessary. It came out great.

This paper gives a nice subtle metallic effect with a very smooth satin finish that provides lots of fine detail and gives the photo depth and contrast. Worked great in my Canon Pro 9000 Mk II printer, the profile provided on their web site matched my printer perfectly. Now it's a hard choice between the Metallic Glossy and the Metallic Satin papers depending on how strong of a metallic effect you want. I have tried both and they work great. With some photos you may have to boost the overall brightness just a little because of the satin finish, but it works great.

I ran a comparison of the Epson Metallic vs the Epson Premium Glossy on two different photos - one in vibrant color and the other a high contrast B&W. The printer used was the new Canon ImagePROGRAF Pro-1000. As a professional photographer who has printed thousands of inkjet prints my trained eye could not distinguish a significant diffference in contrast and color saturation/luminance in the color comparison. However, in the B&W comparison the improved detail and billiance using the metallic paper was palpable. And the metallic is noticeably heavier paper even though there is only a .5mil difference in actuality. So for me the color prints will use the Epson Glossy and the B&Ws will use the metallic.
