Mic Monitoring Xbox

If you have mic'd headphones, then this TRRS is useful for monitoring and recording on a lightning input iPhone.

As of July '23 this is the best money can buy for Xbox series console. The fact that the presets save to the headset themselves, so you don't need a PC and don't lose any audio quality once connected to console, is vital. It also has the best quality mic for Xbox Series systems. The only gripe I have is that when muted, you can still hear yourself talking, so it's sometimes hard to tell if you're actually muted or not. Also, I would love a mute light to illuminate somewhere on the mic boom so that I could see I was muted without having to check party chat, or whatever. I'm not a fan of the headband design, I wish they used a bungee like SteelSeries does, because the leather band slides easily off my head when bending down to pick something up. A few design tweaks, and this thing would be nearly flawless!

If you use your I-Phone to do radio remotes, this is what you need. You'll be able to use headphones for monitoring and a decent mic for interviewing, announcing, etc. The only weak link is the jack in the phone itself, so treat it well! A well made cable.

I recently bought two of these for my Countryman B3 lavalier mic (I needed one, but at $17 I thought I might just as well get a spare right away). I'm using the Countryman B3 mic with a Tentacle Sync Track-E audio recorder, which only allows for monitoring during recording via Bluetooth using the Tentacle app, and that entails serious lag that would be too distracting for me because this is part of my setup as a solo shooter, doing both video and sound and conducting interviews myself. The Tentacle Track-E is simple to operate once you get the hang of it, and not having to deal with wireless issues is a plus for a solo operator. But the lack of live monitoring means not knowing if sound from the lavalier is being affected by rustling caused by friction against clothing, which is not a good to discover in post (even if Davinci Resolve's Voice Isolation effect can now help with that quite a bit...) During my most recent shoot I was able to use this Bubblebee Lav Concealer and not only did it aid in placing the lav on my subject (inside his T-shirt to keep it concealed), but also in preventing all rustling sounds. The subject was an artist working on a big canvas on the floor, so he was moving around quite a bit. The concealer comes with a clip, a fabric guard, an extreme wire fabric guard for course fabrics, and six pieces of hypoallergenic Lav Concealer Tape, which I have yet to try. Do keep in mind that this concealer is made specifically for the Countryman B3, which has a tiny capsule, so don't assume this will work with any other lavalier mic. I'm glad I bought this accessory and will not use the Countryman B3 again without it!

I'm using a 4-mic drum recording/monitoring setup and I wanted a dedicated bass drum mic so I could free up the one I was using and at the same time have a mic designed specifically for bass drums. I watched some comparison videos and this one had the sound characteristics that I was looking for. Did a test recording at home and it sounds great. As it stands im very happy with this purchase. 2 things to note: the 3/8 to 5/8 gold adapter that it came with only has (extraction) grooves cut into one side. I removed it then accidentally put it back into the mount reversed and I was unable to remove it until I screwed something into it with loctite, waited 4 hours, then was able to unscrew it from the mount. Not sure if others received a 2-side grooved adapter or if this is just how they do it. Anyway I'll probably cut grooves into it with a dremel. The second thing: I tightened down the pivot screw that attaches the body of the mic to the mount and it still never got that tight. Even with those 2 minor issues I still really like this microphone and I'm glad I bought it.

This is a great mic for the price. I use this to record to my iPad. The first thing I noticed was how clear every thing sounded through the mic. It has a number of different polar patterns and they all sound very different. The stereo pattern is very clearly stereo and the figure eight pattern is very tight sounding with the others in between. The differences between them makes it possible to record and number of sources effectively. I'm connecting to the iPad with the camera connecion kit and doing all my monitoring through the mic. This give me low latency monitoring so overdubs are possible. Since I'm using acoustic guitar almost exclusively the is the ideal solution. I've put the Yeti,headphones, and my iPad in a cannon photo backpack for a padded mobile studio that sounds good with the fewest wires possible. I'm using multitrack DAW for the iPad to do all my recording. This is a great, and great sounding, solution for iPad recording.

I use this for reference monitoring in a production sound environment. The mic serves as talkback to my boom op. I am so used to the sound of the 7506 phones that I don't really feel the need to experiment with anything else for this application. However, I do find that the phones get a little tired after a few years with loss of low end. I think that I held out longer to replace these than I do with my normal, unmodded Sonys...entirely due to the price. Also, one has to use this either with the Remote audio coms system or purchase the xlr/.25ins termination. I am very glad that I did buy them now, the quality is very good.

I use these to convert mic inputs into line level jack ins for recording and monitoring, and they work really well. This means that unless you're using active mics, you don't need an external desk (or 5) to do the job. I love them
