While video taping auditions, I can plug a charger in a wall socket to charge one battery while I use the normal charger that came with our VIXIA HF S100 Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder 5 |

I use this for self-taping for auditions. The light is very bright but soft. The entire unit is lightweight so I can move it without dismantling. Easily assembled. The instructions could tell you what the hard aluminum shell is for I has to call the company to find out. 5 |

In outfitting a home studio for self-taping auditions, (I am an actor) this lighting package is flexible and collapses easy-to-store when not needed. Give me just the lighting I need. 5 |

Excellent microphone. I was so pleased with this mic. I do voiceover and on-camera for a living and this has made on-the-go auditions and gigs so much better. The sound quality of this mic is professional. Happy to have found a microphone compatible with my DSLR and iPhone that does the job well. 5 |

The secret to producing high quality recordings in a home studio lies in four words: signal to noise ratio. I'm a voice over professional working in a highly competitive market. Clients will often receive hundreds of auditions to cast a single job. The number one reason most of these auditions will be rejected has to do with subpar audio quality. Too much noise, not enough signal. I've made it my mission to never let poor sound quality be the reason I'd lose a job. That's why I will only invest in the best equipment. I use the Sennheiser MKH8060 shotgun mic for my recordings, and I'm not going to put this $1500 microphone in a $15 shockmount. I chose the Rycote shock mount for several reasons. The lyre suspension system beats any system relying on elastic bands that wear out over time. Secondly, my microphone has a special non-reflective Nextel coating I want to protect. The inside of the Rycote shockmount clamp has a soft rubber layer that holds the microphone in place and protects it. Lastly, it is easily adjustable and stays in place at the perfect angle, making sure no reverberations are transferred to the microphone. That way there's no noise and only signal being recorded. The only downside to this shockmount is the price. But compared to what's out there, there is no better suspensions system, and I know from experience that I get what I pay for. 5 |
