Microphone Stand Holding Noise Shield

If I had known of this stand prior to buying my others, I would have bought this instead! This stand is professional-grade in its sturdiness, as well as being substantial. If your microphone and/or shield tips-over, its because you struck it with something!  Very pleased with this purchase!

Stand is robust and is an addition to the sound system that I have. It makes more sense of having it and not holding the microphone that much anymore while sitting on a bar chair.

It is great to finally find a tripod mic stand that weighs more than the microphone is is holding. All the adjustments work great too. I havent road tested it yet, but I have other On-Stage stands that are very dependable; I don't think this stand will be any different.

I only had the foam shield before this; what a difference this windshield makes! Cuts down on wind noise.

I bought this shockmount for use with Neumann KM184, which are extremely sensitive to movement, shock and vibration even at very low, even almost subsonic frequencies. If I use a conventional mic clip on a stand on stage for example, I get booming footsteps through the stand/clip. I have tried several other rubber-band style mounts, which help slightly, but still not acceptable. This lyre type clip is the best I have tried. Any residual noise is at such low frequency, that I can filter most of it with a highpass at 20 or 30 Hz. But to be truly effective, however, you can not use standard microphone cables (1/4 diameter) because the stiff mic cable puts stress on the lyre and makes it less effective. Moreover, the cable itself conducts mechanical noise to the microphone body. To get the best performance, use a cable made with Mogami 2697 super thin balanced mic cable, make a small loop behind the mic and clip the cable into the strain-relief built-in to the back of this clip. If you have a long mic cable run, just use a 3' pigtail of the thin cable at the mic for this purpose.

The Good thing I found it in this stand, is the on/off switch. You can turn on the condenser microphone silently without any noise. This feature is difficult to find it in any on/off switch in condenser microphone.

I have very little wind noise when I use this with a Sennheiser lavalier microphone.
