Microsoft Artist Tablet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use my tablet for work and entertainment. I am a professional artist, and I use my S7+ for all business purposes- creating content, emails, invoices, and of course calendar. I love the S-Pen for digital editing, it makes precision so much easier.

I am a digital artist (specifically focusing on painting renditions) so this review will be focused soley on the artistic aspects of the tablet. Note this is my first time writing a review. It is also my first time owning a tablet (I've relied on other digital mediums till now). The Intuos Pro professional pen & touch tablet Medium is as everything it claims to be, versatile to your preferences and easy to use. One would think not being able to see your hand on the screen itself would cause hand-eye cordination problems, but transition is surprisingly easy (or at least it was for me). The things I most liked about it is: lightweight, smooth, pen batteries are long lasting (I often spend many hours drawing a day), versatile in multiple functions to suit your preferences, be it photo editing, painting, or simply using it in place of a mouse. The sensitivity can be adjusted, touch can be turned on or off, can be used by left or right handed users, it's fully customizable. It's comfortable to have in your lap or desk, and with a little time is easy to figure out. It's also rather durable (I accidently sat on it, but it seems to be fine.) The things I least liked about it were: drawing area is too small (though zooming functions are available), the tablet itself is slightly large and in the way; not meant for a small or cluttered desk. The pen nips wore down too quickly for me, became sharp, I worried if it would end up scratching the screen in the long term. I have read up on this and some people experienced the same problem while others have not, whether it's a common issue or not is unknown to me. Besides a few flaws it is everything it needs to be and the problems it has are minuscule and easily over looked. Would recommend to any other artist that would like to get involved in the digital art world.

I'm an amateur photographer, and I am not an illustrator. I have no drawing talent whatsoever. Still, I read about tablets and how they can make photo retouching easier even if you're not an artist. I figured this tablet was perfect for an amateur like me. I was not disappointed. I've used it to retouch a few photos. It's true what I read: Once you try one of these, you don't want to go back to using a mouse! It's so much more natural to "brush" with the stylus in the shape of the are you're trying to clean up. The driver software is very good - it integrates well with Photoshop and allows you to define the buttons on the stylus and on the tablet to do a wide variety of things. The 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity are plenty for my needs - I'm well able to adjust the brush size "on the fly" this way to control light retouching versus more intense retouching. I'm sure an artist can use it to get a good range of light brush strokes versus heavy strokes. This was well worth the money. It's perfect for those who want a pen tablet but who are not professionals or who have a tight budget. I'm an engineer by trade which means I do a lot of textual work so for that I go back to the mouse. But it's nice to know I have the option to use the tablet for more than just photo retouching.

I love using this product. As an artist I now prefer using my iPad instead of working from my desktop with a wacom tablet. Paperlike has allowed me to work faster and from anywhere.

I am a digital artist in New York City famous for the Drunk History visuals I made for Comedy Central. The Xencelabs company was created by former Wacom people who believed they could make a better tablet and they have. The annoying Wacom Express Keys are gone. The Xencelabs plastic drawing surface feels more like natural paper/canvas, and there are two pens included. I like the skinnier one best. Overall the Xencelabs tablet is more sensitive and responsive when used with the Photoshop brush engine. I am never going back to a Wacom again. Rick Schwab

I have used a Wacom tablet since the mid-1990s both at work and home as a writer/graphic artist. This slimmer, yet, with a smaller over-all size (meaning less desk space taken, but same active tablet space) the Intuos Pro Paper is another in the fine Wacom tradition of user features and upgrades. There is no mouse with this device, so if you ever want to use such an input device, be advised. The tablet's active area serves s both a gestures device and, with InkSpace, can capture your drawings with paper placed over the active area and secured with the paper clip. This device satisfies both the analog and the digital artist in its users.

I am a new photoGrapher expanding my capabilities as an artist. The wacom tablet fits perfectly with what I am looking to do. Way to setup, easy to use.

It's the worst but what can you do? I'd rather pay through b&h than straight to microsoft.
