Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 Fingerprint Sensor

I have used several types of laptop computers, but Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is more than I expected :)

If you have an Apple chip laptop (I own a MacBook Air M1 2020), and you use an external screen (yes, a 2012 Apple Thunderbolt 27 monitor), then this keyboard is a must. I will never get used to the more compact keyboards without the numeric keypad and extra buttons, but most importantly this keyboard has a magic fingerprint sensor identical to the one on your laptop, so you can close the laptop-that-never-heats-up and enjoy all the perks of logins, password and authorizations using the fingerprint sensor. At $179 it is on the pricy side, but I value not needing a cable and the sensor, so overall very much worth it.

Pairs with the Microsoft Surface Go I got as a gift for my spouse. She's quite happy with it.

Compared to a authentic grip this is 95% of it. The 5% is a litle bit different consistency of the surface when touching, the subselector feels different a litle bit less solid and a 1% of the difference is in perception of the quality of the plastic. After two days I did not notice any of this an I am a happy camper. The functions as far as I see all there and the the same. Un less you are a Nikon snob, this is a good buy.

I have a couple of hundred high-quality photo prints finished with a high-gloss surface that will fingerprint, scratch, and/or chip along the edges with the slightest handling. It was almost impossible to look at, let alone sort through, these prints before putting each in a print protector sleeve. I literally had to wear gloves. Now I can shuffle through them, stack them, move them, and view them without worry or hassle. These sleeves are a small price to pay compared to the cost of a custom print.

This is a must have accessory for the Surface Pro. I considered getting the cover with the fingerprint reader, but that's not necessary because the Surface Pro has facial recognition built in and it works great. Typing isn't much different from a full size keyboard. The key feel is good and the track pad works very well. Thanks to the trackpad and touch screen, you don't really need a mouse. I bought mine Used from B&H and saved about 30% over new. It was only rated a 9, but honestly, I don't think the box was ever opened. The box was beat up but it didn't look like the tape was ever removed. B&H used stuff is GREAT!

It's got a great grip and the lens mount feels very strong and tight. The fingerprint sensor is easier to find with it. The infinite display looks its full size, an even though it's protected with a raised bezel at the top and bottom, now I feel I need a screen cover as well.
