I bought this hub for use with the Microsoft Surface Pro which has only one USB 3.0 port. This product allows me to us an external DVD/CD for loading software, etc. in addition to allowing me to use an extrnal mouse and thumb drive while typing papers and doing Powerpoint presentations for school. I needed this for a Microsoft Windows 8 Surface Pro as it only had one USB 3.0 port. I tried a non-powered hub only to find out that when using an external hard drive, it would consume most of the available power from the computer, leaving other attached peripherals unstable. This powered hub worked perfectly with all of the other devices attached. 5 |
