Mirrorless Camera Shooting Sports

Some jobs I use my double, but on some sports jobs where I'm shooting one camera, this is perfect.

The Canon R5 mirrorless camera sports a new lens mount that is not directly compatible with any of it's old lenses. However, Canon offers several version of the lens adapter that allows some versions of it's legacy lenses to be mounted to the R5. Luckily for me, all of the Canon lenses that I still use on my Canon 80D are compatible with this adapter. The control ring is very handy because it allows you to select which camera function it can modify and see while you are looking through the viewfinder. Some reviewers have commented that they are not happy with the additional length the adapter adds to the camera-lens combination. This is not an issue for me at all.

Although I have not been able to use it for a lot of sports, this camera is truly reliable and has been a dream of mine to finally own. I am still looking forward to shooting more events with this camera.

Shooting sports photography for 8 hours a day and not having a monopod to support your heavy camera and lens in insane! I was to happy to have this in my bag this summer.

For sports photography with 50 megapixel camera found I needed extra space when shooting multiple games back to back. Very fast card. Used for a few weeks so far with no issues.

I have been shooting youth sports for 9 years. This camera replaced my EOS-1D. Image quality, speed and functionality are greatly improved. I am happy with the auto focus. Paired with the Canon 300mm F2.8 I find that my usable images is up in the 90+% range. I have shot as many as five high school football games on a single battery charge.

A must for shooting sports and concerts. No more leaving the second camera and lens option behind in the bag. Wide shots and zooms are an arms length away!

Bought this camera for shooting sports and I am not disappointed at all. It picks up my subjects and follows them across the court. The tracking with the 50mm and the 20mm are consistent in several of the gyms I have had to work in. Using the the auto ISO allows me to capture what I need. Shooting in RAW and then tuning in Aperture gets it done! I also like the size and the rapid fire capability. I do not miss what I am photographing. Wish it held two cards.
