Mix Amp Vs Receiver For Gaming Headphones

I work in audio post-production at a facility in NYC, and I just recently purchased a pair of AKG open headphones for doing pre-mix work outside of my studio. Of course with them being 60-something ohms of resistance, I knew I was going to need an amp to keep them happy, and to keep me happy. Almost all of our recording equipment for field recording is from sound devices; I love this company. The build, quality, and durability of their equipment is always at the top of the line. Same thing goes for this headphone amp. I never plan to use this thing outdoors, but I actually only power it with batteries because the power supply is an additional purchase. (However they do come with the DC terminal into their box if you want to do a little work yourself and wire up a DC converter) Very linear response, virtually no noise floor unless I jack the level up above 80% (which I never need to do anyway), and the best part is it really lets my headphones shine. If you require headphones and plan to do serious mix work PLEASE do not expect to get good results coming straight out of the laptop's 1/8 output; not only will it not be loud enough in most cases, but there is just not enough power to allow a high resistance pair of headphones to be at their best.

I replaced my motorhome's a/v receiver. This new receiver is better than the original amp.

I’ve installed this on the NR1403 (Marantz receiver/amp) and it works.

Use it with wireless speakers and amp. Able to mix wireless with wired and beautiful audio.

2 weeks and I'm very satisfied with this receiver. Easy to set up. Brings my mix speakers alive!

I use these headphones for mix n mastering. The wire they come with also works for the K240 MKII headphones as well.

I was looking for a micro amp to mix our stage monitor signal with my mic or guitar/bass -- so I could add a bit more of me in my headphones. This works great. Has both sizes of headphone jacks, a choice of mono or stereo, separate monitor and mic/instrument volume controls, and XLR in and thru for live mixing. Also has a ground lift, which can be a difference-maker when you have house line noise. I use it mostly for adding my bass to the monitor mix. Small enough to fit on my pedal board, so it just comes along with me all the time now. The only caveat: The XLR inputs are low-Z, so you'll need a DI box to connect instruments. However, that is easy to work around considering all the other benefits.

Great job eliminating hum from our mix board to our monitors (via amp). Placed device on Mon 1 and Mon 2 Out of our mix board before amp input and eliminated the hum from both channels of monitors. Excellent result at a great price.

We have a home recording studio and on ocassion we need to provide mix monitoring to more than the 2 headphone outs available on our audio interface. This little headphone amp is exactly what we needed. I was surprised by the quality and power of this little headphone amp.
