Moca Ethernet Cable

I purchased the two-pack Actiontec Bonded MoCA Network Adapters after reading about them online. They are extremely simple to install. All you do is connect one to your tv cable and plug in you ethernet source and you're ready to go. You must have at least two adapters to complete the network. I installed the second one in our living room. This time I just connected the tv cable to the adapter and it was the ethernet source for my streaming devices. I was so satisfied with these adapters, I purchased the wi-fi extender with which I am equally pleased. I've gotten over 100 Mps with this wi-fi extender - unbelievable!! If you need a hard wire ethernet in your house, this is the simplest way to get one - using your existing cable tv lines. I decided to cut the cord on cable tv because my bill went up nearly $20 per month with no change in service. With this device, I am able to run OTA TV and streaming devices over my home tv cables and it's like magic. I definitely recommend this produce to anyone interested in a MoCA network.

This is by far the best non-Ethernet home networking solution on the market delivering near 1G Ethernet speeds. There were some teething issues for me that I had to resolve, but since then my three adapters have been rock solid. So much so I just bought 2 more. A few tech notes from the issues I had to resolve. High frequency bandwidth is everything for these adapters. Make sure you have RG6 wires, this should not be an issue if using cable wiring preinstalled in the last 30-40 years or more recently by the cable company. In my case the in wall wiring was OK with RG6 cable. However a previous owner had used cheap R59 jumpers (with cheap twist on terminations) between a rat's nest of cheap Radio Shack splitters that couldn't pass more than 1 GHz. I bought a higher quality 6-way splitter rated up to 2 GHz. I also found that having a filter designed to contain the MOCA signals within the house was an absolute necessity. This filter is installed at the input to the splitter for me. I think the filter either addressed a high frequency impedance issue or controlled signal reflections that were causing issues. As an aside to anyone who cares, these adapters do pass VLANs and probably any other Ethernet L2 items like jumbo frames and the like. I believe all MOCA adapters do is to encapsulate Ethernet frames and seamlessly pass it over the MOCA network.

MoCA is the way to go if you don't have an ethernet wired house. I've tried Powerline ethernet and although it was decent, it was not stable. Other connected appliances add noise to the electric signal. With MoCA, the signal is stable and FAST. One thing you have to get is a PoE filter. You need to add it to the coaxial coming into the house. I added it where it came in at the utility closet. Once on, the MoCA signal has been perfect.

Not much to say about an ethernet cable, except that it works.

A Ethernet cable that works! And it was low cost.

Replaced an older MoCA and increased the bandwidth from ~ 40 mbps downstream to 130 Mbps. In my setup, the cable line is not connected to the rest of the house's cable network, but rather is point to point between two MoCA devices.

Awesome. Almost getting the full speed in every cable outlet via MOCA, as via modem. I am really pleased. I am already using 4 MA-25s and planning to get more. Only thing I noticed is that you must connect the 2-pack MOCA adapters first and then add the individual ones via the pairing button and not the other way. I lost a few days on that.

Easy to set up, just make sure you add a MOCA POE filter to prevent your network data leaking outside your home/office. BTW, if you have a newer comcast xfininty cable modem with MOCA capability you can turn it off through that cable modems web interface to keep it from interfering with this much better Actiontec MOCA 2.0 solution!
