I have purchased Vello remote shutters before and they are very good quality and dependable. Best bang for the buck!

Roger and Frances Hicks told me about Hood Hats when I told them I had burned out two Leica M shutters on a trip to Mexico. I had no idea this solution was available and I now have one for all my M lenses. No more fiddling with fussy cap and hood combinations. The Hood Hat blocks out the sun and protects the lens and hood from damage, and you see it immediately in the viewfinder, so there is no chance of shooting with it on. A terrific product. Worth every penny.

Make sure you get a remote that will work on the Sonya7iii and it does. Works like a charm for those shutters that need to be open longer than 30s. If you are just looking to use the function as a remote shutter and no need for longer shutter speeds than use cheaper versions.

I have a Sony FDR camcorder and I wanted to protect the shutters that cover the lens. I have had such things happen before on an old Canon camcorder I had. Once the protecting blades got stuck, I was buggered. So now I have this wonderful first line of defence. Also when I am filming myself (I am a solo performer) and I have not got the screen facing me, I can see myself in the filter and make adjustments if needed.

When I had a Nikon 300, I tried several remote shutters and the best of the lot was by Vello. When I was given a Nikon D7100 I looked for a shutter release, and at that time Vello did not have one that would work with my new camera. Not wanting to settle for second best, I decided to wait and I was rewarded. When the Vello remote appeared on the B&H site I ordered the best shutter release from the best camera shop. A double win for me.

I'm pretty new to photography and especially remote shutters but this seems to work perfectly. No issues so far, and the price is great. I'm sure professionals would have a different opinion but does exactly what I need it to do.

If you use the kit lens on the FX9, this is the way to go and forget the hood the lens comes with. No need to carry around a lend hood cap as this one shutters down to protect the lens.
