Motorola Canopy Radio

The Motorola CLS - 1110 is a fine handheld radio. It has decent range and can be programmed so as not to interfere with other radio frequencies. More than the radio, however, I was totally sold on the customer service I got from B&H. It was as good as I could have imagined leaving no room to ask for more. Thanks-

The CLS-1110 2-way radio by Motorola is small, lightweight and easily accessible for my assisted living staff. If only there was a way to eliminate the protruding antenna (can easily get in the way), this would be the world's most perfect unit!

I have had several Moto phones throughout the years and Motorola has never disapointed.

Thus far, I've used these bins for birding in open or partially closed canopy (no deep forest work). The clarity is far better than what I get with bins in the $ range, so I'm quite happy with this purchase. I decided to purchase them based on the Cornell 2013 binocular review, which I think was spot-on. Overall, very happy with these bins.

I frequently camp in areas that are miles away from cell service. And I have a new driver kid at home going back and forth from college to work. And I am a bit paranoid. These three facts combine to cause me to routinely leave my camp in the evening and travel however many miles to cell service so I can call home. Now I don't have to do that. I recently spent 10 days in the Olympic Peninsula, with no cell service. Even with the rain forest thick canopy cover, and being at the bottom of a steep canyon the in-reach was able to connect without problem. The rain, constant fog, and high humidity didn't seem to cause it any issues. Considering the limited sight line to the sky because of the canyon, and no open visibility due to the thick canopy cover and fog, I was entirely impressed with the in-reaches performance. Now I can stay in touch with my family no matter where my travels take me.

The binoculars focus down to about half a meter making them excellent for watching insects and identifying flowers at your feet without stooping. The 8.5 power makes them like a long range microscope for close objects and yet are servicable for watching birds, mammals, and looking at canopy leaves. I bought a pair for my naturalist wife 5 years ago and now prefer my own pair for routine fieldwork above my Swarovski optics costing an order of magnitude more that I now reserve for trips to view waterfowel and large mammals at a distance. The Pentax binoculars are lightweight, focus rapidly and smoothly, and the fully coated lenses give a clear, bright image under a forest canopy. They are not waterproof, but the price is right.

I was worried that I high quality, smaller monitors were a thing of the past. Small is needed under the canopy of a roll top desk. Thanks Lenovo!

Multipurpose item, but I have found it quite useful to point out birds seen in the tree canopy. Fits nicely in your pocket for easy retrieval. Nice gift added to an expensive binocular purchase.
