Mxl V250 Condenser Microphone For Drum Recording

This microphone has gotten me through so much learning. When I first started recording I was using an Avid Recording Studio mixer with only a single XLR input. So one microphone. (Until I figured out how to run another mic through the guitar jack.) I got the MXL 990 and I feel like I can keep recording with it for a long time. For starters, it's pretty durable. I haven't spiked it against the ground but it's taken some falls and still ticks. As for quality? There's definitely better mics out there. Better tone, pickup, all sorts of things. But I'd be lying if I didn't say this is a great mic to take around the block. While I'm not completely green, I'm at least blue-green. So anything fancier would be completely wasted on me. And all I really want is for the voice to be clear and warm. I'm recording a podcast with myself and a single guest. No instruments. Nothing fancy. And honestly: this mic does everything I want without fighting me too hard. I would definitely point it right and try to insulate yourself a bit. But the difference between this and my Shure SM58 is huge. I've since switched to a Zoom H6 for my mixer (whew). Now I can get more people in on my records if I need to. But when I had the chance to get different mics I went in for 3 more MXL 990s. That's how reliable they are. I may graduate from them someday, but for what I need to do and where I'm at, they're perfect.

It's an amazing and versatile microphone for both the professional and home recording enthusiast. It's hard to believe that one can get such a quality condenser microphone at the price this goes for. I love what it does for vocals, and the dual capsule capability is a plus. I have had the pleasure of recording with much more expensive microphones that were in the lockers of studios where I have recorded in the past, but the V67i truly can hold it's own against many of them.

I'm a voice over actor and was previously using a usb condenser microphone for at home recording. I don't have the best sound proofing so decided to pick up a Dynamic mic and the Shure SM7B was the most recommended. It's been great as I don't have to fix as much in post with room tone and sounds coming from other rooms

AT2050 is a great multi-pattern microphone at better than half the price of other brands, Audio-Techinca has a winner with this condenser mic. We needed a microphone to add ambience to our recording and live streaming and this unit does the job excellently. We had previously used a condenser mic that was almost ten times the cost of this one and we can not tell the difference in the quality of the recording. We live stream all of our house concerts and archive them as well, we had people from all over the country call and tell us how great the audio quality was and that it was one of the best concerts they had ever listened to online. A++ on this one. Thanks B&H again!

Bought it and using it as an alternative large diaphragm condenser microphone for vocal and acoustic recording. Definitely a difference in character of sound and quality as compared to staple SM 58 Shure. Good with details and such. One slight gripe may be the limited peaking capacity. the -10dB pad is there but I personally don't believe that I should be using it most of the time. Loud recording applications may feel some limitations, however its value to performance ratio is a definite plus. Good well rounded function and use so far! If you're using it in the home studio make sure you have some isolation proofing done b/c it will pick up the echos. (and also thin window pane means you'll get car traffic noise picked up in this thing - very sensitive!)

i use this Pyle PDMIC78 microphone for home recording on guitar amps, snare drum and vocals. very sturdy construction and very easy to get a great sound from it. the only thing i didn't like was the XLR to 1/4cable that comes with it. sounds much better with a XLR-XLR low impedance cable. i can't believe the low price! it is impossible to go wrong with this purchase and B&H shipped it to me lightning fast Thanks!

I bought this pop filter to go with my MXL 870 condenser mic and It works perfectly. Fits the mic nicely and functions as a pop filter should. The construction seems quite solid as well. Very happy with the buy.

I have 6 MXL 606's now- acquired incrementally over the last several years. I'm likely to buy more! I have used them with excellent results for snare, drum overhead x-y, bass kick drum, toms, acoustic guitar, electric guitar cabinets, bass guitar cabinets, concert 9' grand piano, all with excellent results running into a Focusrite 2i2 or 18i20. This mic is well suited to higher volume / percussive / fast transient sound sources.
