My Speaker Sounds Distorted Phono To Receiver

It went into my parents' system when their 30-year-old receiver gave up. Works and sounds fine. Has a phono preamp and adds Bluetooth. Well worth the very reasonable cost.

This is a great receiver. I bought it to replace my 30 year old Onkyo Receiver. It is very easy to use. There is nothing complicated to using this receiver. It sounds really good with the speakers that I have. One of my needs was that it have a phono input, and it has one. Some of the other brand receivers in this price range did not have a phono input. It does what it is supposed to do, and I am pleased.

I was surprised at the quality of this receiver, especially for the price. It really works well with my existing speaker system. It sounds great, and really easy to set up.

After 35+ years in storage, I recently resurrected my Thorens TD-125/Shure SME 3009 Series II/Ortofon cartridge turntable, and to my surprise, the majority of modern-day receivers do not have a phono preamplifier, and if they do, it is usually of very mediocre quality. Based on some excellent reviews on the B&H website, I ordered a DeeJayPre Turntable Phono Preamplifier by ART to compare it with the one built-in to a Yamaha receiver. The ART preamplifier with its output fed to the Aux input of the receiver, audibly outperformed the on-board phono preamp in just about every parameter, including ... gain, channel-balance, noise, harmonic distortion, absence of 60 Hz hum and accuracy of reproduction. Other Pro features include ... an input gain/trim control with an overload clipping indicator, choice of 2 input capacitor filtering and a low rumble & hum filter. My only negative comments relate to the brightness of the indicator lights and lack of an ON/OFF switch. In the absence of a switch, the 12 V transformer supplied with the ART phono preamplifier should be plugged into one of the switched outlets on receiver, either directly, or via a short extension cord. On the features wish list ... a concentric dual Gain/Trim control for individually adjusting the right & left channel input levels would have been really nice. Overall, a very well-designed, well-built & well-priced unit. A great buy.

This receiver is reasonably priced, does what I need and has great sound. The Bluetooth capability is especially nice, along with the phono input.

Very happy with the Receiver w/phono input to play all my albums, hooks up to my smart tv for surround sound.

The ART DeeJayPre does exactly what I need it to do. It connects my turntable to a current day receiver that does not have a phono preamp or ground connector. The sound is good - although I have no comparison to any other phono pre...

I plugged in my TV, cable box, DVD player, ROKU and power cable then powered it up and everything just worked. I checked the firmware and it was up to date. I changed the view screen to show Cable Box, DVD and ROKU and that was about it. The ease of operation is great and the sound quality has improved from my previous receiver. The only down side is that I have a phono player that required an addition purchase of a pre-amp, as there is no phono input on this Yamaha A/V receiver....but that was a minor issue. If you don't want to spend a fortune on a A/V receiver I would definitely recommend this Yamaha unit.

I've had this Sony stereo receiver for a few days now and it has surprised me in a very good way with performance for the price. I'm comparing this receiver to a Yamaha receiver that costs more than three times as much and the Sony sounds as good, if not better than the Yamaha unit, and both sound very good to my ears (paired with Q-Acoustics speakers). For listening to music in 2022, this receiver has just the features you need: phono input for vinyl enthusiasts (phono inputs have all but disappeared from stereo gear), bluetooth for streaming from phones, tablets and PCs, and above all, great sound quality.
