Nad 7140 Stereo Receiver Review

I purchased this amp to replace an aging NAD 7140. I have always been happy with NAD, so sticking with the brand, I chose the 7140 over the more powerful 399 for the simple reason of having a Speaker A & B option. I've already run the amp thru the paces with CD's, Phono, and mostly the Bluetooth and BluOS streaming uses. Was very easy to set-up....... don't over think it, just follow the simple directions, and your BluOS App on your phone is a joy to use. I gave the amp a 5 star rating only because i cant do a 4.9. The one peculiar quirk is the volume knob and corresponding light meter. The light meter peaks out by the time you get to half volume.......... so when switching to a different music source, a volume check is not just a simple visual to make sure you are not turned up to high. BUT....... the BluOS app on your phone has a pretty accurate volume bar to let you know where you are in the functional range of the amp. It's really just a small oddity........ other than that, I LOVE every aspect of this amp...... the power is more than sufficient to drive my Infinity CS-3007 speaker. Clear and crisp. Front panel controls are simple to use! HIGHLY recommend this amp!

Connected to an older NAD receiver and can now play hundreds of songs from iPod and iPhone. Quick and easy setup. Has been very reliable with no dropped connections or other issues. Nobody packages shipments as well as B&H.

I've enjoyed this receiver for almost a year since submitting this review. It's configured for a 7.2.4 configuration with front speakers bi-amped and two Zone 2 speakers for stereo out on the deck. This setup utilizes all fifteen amplifiers. Bi-amping the two, front speakers allows for plenty of power overhead while critical listening to stereo sources. Movies encoded with Dolby really come alive. As an upgrade to my Marantz SR-7012, I'm extremely happy I chose this AV Receiver. It's versatile and powerful, but most importantly, it sounds great!

I'd been looking for a stereo receiver to incorporate with my existing sound system and this Tree Receiver fit the bill.

This receiver has revitalized my 1980s stereo system by allowing Bluetooth transfer from my Sony Walkman (CD quality) and from an iPhone. When powered the receiver goes into pairing mode--your device remembers this receiver...you are connected. So far there has been no problem with connection or distance from the receiver. As this is my second unit (first attached to another stereo system) I only wish I could rename the unit as it comes up with the same name...only to be identified by the Bluetooth address. If you only have one of these, this will not be an issue. Attachment is simple: connect using RCA supplied cord to your receiver aux input. Having it on a switched plug on the receiver is very convenient. If not, you would have to push the light button to switch it into on mode. It has an auto off after a few minutes of not receiving a signal. It also has an optical connection.
