Nec Monitor Color Sensor Connection

If you have an NEC monitor this is a great sensor. While you can get another brand sensor this one is designed specifically for NEC and works seamlessly with all their products and their tech support is excellent. It also works well with the new MacBook Pro (M1).

I bought this calibration sensor to work with the latest version of NECs SpectraView II software. My old sensor was no longer supported by the new 64bit app. It is basically a rebranded X-Rite i1Display Pro. This sensor will not work with X-Rites software, nor can SpectraView II be used to calibrate non-NEC displays. For me this is no problem since I only use wide-gamut NEC displays for my photography work. The calibration with this sensor is spot on. For home use I print from Photoshop CC using a Canon Pro-100 and Canon Pro Platinum photo paper. Using this sensor and the Print Standard setting in SpectraView II (80.0 cd/m2) the color of my prints is excellent. I get the color that is on my screen. Of course, one never gets the same brightness and contrast as you get on the screen, but the color rendition is as good as I could hope for. I am very pleased. FYI... I do calibrate my MacBook Pro using the open source DisplayCAL. This software does support this sensor via ArgyllCMS and I imagine can be used to calibrate most any display with excellent results.

Easy to use color calibration sensor for my NEC monitors. They allow me to calibrate my screen for skin tones and so that I can see what images will look like on paper.

I finally decided to buy NEC PA271Q-BK-SV 27 16:9 Color-Critical IPS Monitor with SpectraView II Color Calibration. I placed my online order and in three days received the monitor in Florida. Unpacked and installed the monitor, turned it on and got amazed with a quality of my pictures. My current main monitor that I have used before is EIZO ClorEdge CG243W will be my secondary one instead of HP LP 2480 ZX that is really a piece of garbage and will be finally recycled. I am just happy with the purchase. Everything is perfect. I have never had a monitor like this one. Thank you NEC and thank you B&H. You are the best.

Connect a new Mac studio to an older NEC monitor, it just works as it should.
