Need A Dac For Studio Monitors

Fantastic for the studio monitors.

Currently these monitors are on my desk, horizontally configured, with signal coming from a SMSL M200. Sound is what I was expecting after reading numerous reviews on monitors. The bass at 0dB (not dampened with the switch on the back) is quite robust, all sounds are punchy/clear, and imaging is great. These were bigger than I expected, because I initially was going to buy the 305p's and didn't read the dimension specs. When they arived, the boxes for each speaker was about the size of an AC window unit box. I probably could get better sound if my desk was larger and I was further away from them. My desk is 48 wide by 24 deep and if it was any smaller I wouldn't be able to fit them. Standalone speaker stands or a couple of tall nightstands could help someone get around that. I use Ableton and produce House music, listen to some funk and rap, everything sounds how I would want it to. There is little audio bleed to its sides or rear, which is great since I have a few roomates and little sound isolation in my room. I have not tried to really push them. I mostly keep the volume nobs on the speakers at 50%, and the DAC at -20dB. It's plenty loud for me at this point and I don't hear any artifacts. Another option I should consider is dropping the bass response to -3dB and then turn the DAC up to -15dB for more focus and clarity in the mids/highs for Classical, Folk, or other genres while minimizing noise pollution.

I don't use these monitors to record. I use these as computer speakers to listen to music, movie and etc. I hook them up with a DAC and use RCA. The sound is very clean (I hear things in my music that I never heard before!) The high and mid are sweet. The bass is ok. I have all setting on flat and vol on 0dB. I control the vol from the DAC. I like these monitors. I listen to the A7X and it sound better, but didn't fit my budget.

My monitors are hooked up to my laptop via a docking station and a Firefly DAC. A while back they started buzzing pretty bad - couldn't figure out what changed. I tried everything, then just stopped using the monitors and didn't know what to do. Did some research and found this device, and it did the trick and solved the buzzing!

First, let me start by stating that I am not a habitual audiophile, nor have I comparison reviewed countless products. Just a guy with an appreciation for music, a moderate budget, and enough desk-time to make a decent setup worth the investment. For reference, I am currently using this product in combination with the Master & Dynamic MH40 Over-Ear Monitors and TIDAL's HIFI digital streaming service. In sequence, this product was the third of three items that comprise my setup (monitors, streaming product, & dac - in that order). After purchasing good headphones and upgrading to better source material, the final piece was to eliminate the onboard sound processing on my MacBook Pro. When combined with other high fidelity products, this DAC made a noticeable different in the overall quality and listening experience. The sound is more warm/full and the notes more sharp/precise. I went with this particular DAC over some of the other similar (portable) units because of it's no-frills, all value feature set. USB powered, physical volume, and the ability to power headphones or desktop monitors. No on board EQ, gain, display, or anything else that may distract you from the core purpose of this product (to decode digital audio). I also went with this unit because other folks who are qualified to compare this product with others of similar likeness gave it high ratings for it's audio dac performance. Super happy with it. Would buy it again / recommend to friends.

Need this because my video card, even though having dual DVI , HDMI, and DisplayPort... can't operate three monitors in a DVI + DVI + HDMI configuration. But, DVI + DVI + DisplayPort works.This adapter solved that problem when connecting an external HDMI LCD TV as a third monitoring source for video editing and playback.

I like the way these studio monitors sound. I purchased several pairs.

Wow. Wow. wow. The quality of this DAC is out of this world. I am using this DAC with my Yamaha HS8 powered studio monitor speakers. Before this iFi DAC, I thought I had purchased cheap speakers ($750 for the pair). After installing this DAC, my speakers sound like $7500 speakers. The DAC provides such depth and breadth that you think you are in a real studio with very expensive equipment. even though the front panel has a POWER MATCH and TRUEBASS buttons to enhance the audio, I find the FIXED switch on the back that passes the signal with no enhancement a better option.

Need a video splitter that could power 4 television monitors, this did the job right out of the box. The associate informed me that it would do the job, and she was right!
