We purchased two Ruggard Fabric Rain Shields (large) to protect two FinishLynx Fusion Cameras, along with the mounted remote positioner on each. While we have a lot of experience timing track meets, this was a first for us to be producing finish images and timing at a USSA Nordic National Championship. The environment for XC skiing is much more harsh than what we experience at most track meets. We needed protection from rain, snow, sleet and blowing snow. The shield is large enough to enclose both the camera and the remote positioner. With one camera, we placed the connection box on top of the camera, and there was sufficient room for this also. The velcro tabs allow for a good seal on the both the bottom of the shield, where the assembly is mated to a geared head, and also on the back of the assembly, where the cables exit. The product worked very well, providing the protection that is needed for highly expensive equipment. While we didn't prove that it would handle continuous, hard driving rain, it did provide the protection that we needed for rain, snow and sleet. Perhaps the material would eventually absorb water and fail with a long, hard driving rain. 5 |
