I use the Rode NT2-A in a home studio where it shares time with several Groove Tubes large condensers, a couple of Rode NT1-As and a large collection of instrument mics. I have had Neumann mics in the studio, and there is a difference, but it seems to be more of character than one of quality. The NT2A is supremely flexible, and not too harsh or bright for vocals when coupled with a high quality preamp. The studio has Seventh Circle Neve and Jensen style pres. More and more, it is becoming the go-to mic when it is important to pick up nuanced playing or singing. The NT1As are also a good value, and are significantly cheaper, but side-by-side there are worlds of difference. The NT2A uses a better designed capsule, and it is capable of picking up the subtlest of nuance and sounds at once airy and well defined. The NT2A is heavy, so you will need good support, but it pays it back in some exceptional sonic performance. I would consider the NT2A to be brighter as opposed to dark, and pairing it with a good preamp is going to be vital. It sounded no different, and perhaps marginally muddier when powered directly by my audio interfaces as compared to an NT1A. On the Neve, however, it was in another class. If you have the pre to back it up, it is very much worth the extra money to go to a NT2A... the omni pattern gives a fantastic open sound, but you have to be very careful about background noise. Superb microphone. 5 |

I had purchased an additional monitor to use in my recording studio. However, once I placed it into position behind my mixing board, I realized I was having great difficulty seeing all of the small icons on recording software. I only use reading glasses for small print up close but this monitor exposed the in between area of my eyesight that no prescription lenses can correct. So, I ordered the Ergotron monitor arm to try and rectify my issue. I was a bit hesitant about spending that much money for an extension arm but now I'm gad I did. This arm was so easy to set up even with my unusual shaped desk. It can be installed in a number of positions and I found the perfect spot for mine. It can be manipulated in a number of positions and angles for proper viewing and for moving it out of your way when necessary. It is built like a tank. It has a great cord rganizer which I really found useful since the monitor I'm using has six cables coming from it for use with all of my other peripherals. I don't know how I lived without it. 5 |

I like to listen to the original recording. So I think popular studio monitor is the best because this is how's the music was sound when produced. Other than a studio monitor the sound is altered in some way. I used to have a sony mdr-v6. 7506 is a little brighter. I like the the sound. The clamping is a little strong. Hopefully it will loosen up over the time. Overall this is one of a few low cost audiophile headphone! 5 |
