New Switch Handheld Controller

I use OP/TECH straps on all my handheld DSLR and SLR cameras. Being able to switch instantly between a shoulder strap and wrist strap is very convenient. Also, a strong feeling of security with either strap.

I received this mic from BH Photo in exchange for my honest review. Upon opening the box I realized right away that this was a well built microphone. The mic has a hefty weight to it and the all metal construction feels like this microphone can take years of use and survive the drops and bumps that go along with using a handheld microphone. I find that the sound is a bit flatter than other boomy or super crisp mics that I have used and compared this microphone to. I happen to like the flat sound on my voice. I also find that this mic is not as susceptible to plosives as other handheld dynamic mics that I have used in the past such as the Pyle-PDMIC58 and Samson Q2U. I added a Windtech 900 series foam windscreen to this mic, as I do for all handheld dynamic mics, and I can close talk this mic for podcasting and it performs great! The cardioid polar pattern is ideal for using this mic in a non-studio environment and does a great job at reducing unwanted room noises and echo. The switch one the handle is quiet when flipped and also contains a tightening screw to make it more difficult to accidentally activate the switch while in use. The mic comes a high quality XLR to 1/4 inch cable as well as a mounting clip that is threaded for a 5/8” mount. Love this thing. Makes my BMPCC way more versatile. Makes it easy to switch from sticks to shoulder rig to just handheld.

Detaching my camera strap is always taking up too much time. As a videographer I need to switch from shooting handheld to a gimbal, time is precious in capturing moments. New trackball to replace very old Slimblade. After maybe a decade, a click switch stopped working on the original unit. New one working fine!

oWhen using a long lens on a tripod you want a cable release to avoid shake. New cameras use electric switching for this. A Pentax switch is about triple the cost of the Vello switch and this does the exact same thing.
