I originally bought this to mic a cello as the available pickups were unsatisfactory. After a makeshift adaptation of the instrument clip we were getting a nice, rich, warm, full tone right away without even touching the EQ. We've been using this for frequent gigs--weddings, parties etc.--for about 4 or 5 years now and it's still working perfectly. This unit has served us so well at such a great price, I just bought 3 more from B&H to mic the string section of the jazz orchestra.

After using standard velcro ties for my instrument cables, I was always looking for something better. Something that wouldn't slip and slide all up and down the cable. In these, I finally found the perfect solution and my cables are much more tidy.

I bought this recorder with the RAW bundle pack for my FS700. After reading online for weeks, I couldnt find any new articles or instructions (being my camera is an older model) and I wanted it set-up correctly at the best quality obtainable.  One email to Convergent Design and the Director of Sales and Marketing, Dan, responded and called me the next day. Mind you it was a Saturday. He took time out of his weekend to explain to me exactly what I could do with this recorder and my FS700, plus all of the capabilities. After using the knowledge he gave me I shot a project with this set-up and its a GAME CHANGER.  I can tell you with 100% confidence - if youre looking for a powerful recorder regardless of your camera, there is no better option than the Odyssey 7Q+ from image quality to customer care.

As someone who is new to audio, the Zoom H5 Handy Recorder can seem intimidating in comparison to it's younger sibling, the Zoom H1 Handy Recorder. I was looking for something portable and powerful enough (48v, to be specific) to record on-the go audio for a podcast which sometimes has guests. This product was a perfect fit for just that. It picks up great audio and has various settings to enhance the overall sound depending on your conditions and what you're trying to record. My one concern when purchasing this was Wow, that looks really complex and for audio tech's. but after speaking with an Audio Pro through B&H they reassured me that even though it looks intimidating, the product is very simple to use. After the products arrival I unbox it and turn it on - it took a while to figure out what everything does, the manual isn't very specific or newbie-friendly. After looking up some videos on Youtube I was able to find a quick tutorial on what all of the buttons do and how to get started with recording. So overall learning curve? Just a ten minute video for me and an additional ten minutes just playing around with the settings. I definitely highly recommend this to any newbie/pro.

After one weekend's use on location, I found the recorder of good value compared to its cost. The low noise characteristic was very useful since I had little need to monitor level, being able to take still photos during the event and modify levels after the event. The fact that I had the analog limiter available made me extra confident. Even though I had AC power available, I also utilized a battery as backup, since location recording is fraught with power issues. Since I was able to utilize long cables and recorded from the rear of the auditorium, the monitoring gain control was useful in matching room level listing with the headphone level. Do not use the MIXPRE-6 II without first doing some test recordings as well as going online and reviewing how others are using the device's features, since the manual itself is not very tutorial in nature.
