I received this item to review (my old review is missing!). Since then, however, I have gone on to buy several more, recommend them to friends, etc. My one critique is that it really needs more USB3 on the front. I mean, the back is nice, but when you have the dock tucked out of the way in the back corner of the desk.... I swap USB devices often, so it's not a fluid movement. It charges my Macbook just fine via the USB-C, has a charging USB port, and a single audio (for headset with mic) too. The SD card slot is a nice touch, and really fast with newer SD cards. I can download from my camera's memory card MUCH faster than my USB SD card reader from last year. Writes quick too. Needs better "non-slide" feet! The power adapter cable could be a touch longer (since this is a desk-mount type device), but that's just my view. All in all, one of the best StarTech USB-C docks I've used so far! 5 |
