I was torn between the 300d and this light, but decided on the X to allow me to quickly handle mixed lighting conditions. I have an original 120D...this light is substantially brighter. Incredibly well built. The fit and finish is top notch. I think for most, the big question will be - this or the 300D. And that all depends on what you shoot. I've read if you gel a 300D to match say tungsten, you get about the same light output vs using the equivalent temp on the 300X. So I'd say if you'll need the extra light output more than you need to adjust for mixed lighting conditions, you might be better off with a 300D and a gel. For my use case, I'd rather not bother with the silly gels. If I find I need more light, I'll use a fresnel and bounce - or spring for the 600X. 5 |
