Nikon D850 Fx Format Digital Slr Camera Body

I chose the D850 even over Nikon's Flagship D6. My D850 is my dream FX format DSLR Professional Camera! I absolutely LOVE it!! I most highly recommend it to truly serious Photographers of all levels! 5 |

My sequence of being a Nikon user, besides other Medium and Large format cameras, is F4S → D70S → D5300 → D850. I liked all my cameras, most by only slightly different reasons. All quality in their own right. I was interested in getting into the FX size as my interests are Fine Art, Landscape, Panoramic, Portrait, Architecture and Astronomy and could use the better capture file. The D850, after I rec'd it and became more intimate, really reminded me of my F4s, the hybrid electrical/mechanical workhorse. It is built, like the D850, so robust that there was a joke that one could pound a seven penny nail into a board with no damage to the camera. The D850 is certainly as well built with an eye piece shutter and battery/vertical handle, again reminiscent of the F4s. The FX chip is outstanding and supported by a full software network, which was fuller, but similar to that of the D5300. The latter which I lovingly referred to as my 'instamatic', because it was small, light and had really good lenses and easy to haul around. But the FX chip is so outstanding, I cannot imagine ever going back to good 'ole' DX, no matter the convenience. So the D850 is larger and heavier, but so what? I can always downsize a superb file in Photoshop, but no one can make one artificially larger without a lot of pixel manipulation. To be fair, I once hauled a Mamiya RB67 medium format camera with multiple lenses all over Egypt and Israel to the tune of about 500 negatives. So I'm geared for it. The laugh is now I have FX camera capable of 9 FPS with the battery handle, and I'll probably use it only for stills. That is of course unless I'm driving by a major mishap and record it for our local news rag. Just like the F4s, this is a workhorse and reasonable for ad-hoc video as well. If you're serious about the Craft, you cannot go wrong with the D850. It certainly has captured my heart. 5 |

I've been looking to step up to the Nikon FX format for a number of years and finally took the step recently. The D750 is a great camera. I had budgeted for a D850 or D810, but all the reviews kept pushing me to the lesser cost format, D750. If you are transitioning to the FX format and have advanced amateur or professional level skills and needs, I highly recommend that you give this camera a serious look. It may not be a cool as the camera costing twice, but it will surely perform in wonderful ways. B&H made the purchase so smooth. The next-day free shipping was great. I am happy and will likely be so for a long time with this camera ... thanks B&H for your help!!! 5 |

I use this on a fairly large digital SLR. I was afraid the lens would be too large for the opening but it fit just fine. Without this strap the camera points down at an uncomfortable angle - the strap holds it straight and against my body so it's a lot more secure and more comfortable to carry. I'm a little worried that the extra strap around my body might be hot in the summer, but it will be worth it if the camera is more secure. However, it does have a certain dork look about it, sort of like a pocket protector. 5 |

Can't say enough about all the benefits of this camera body. Came from film cameras (D5 latest) to digital (D200, D700, D750, D850). TZhe D850 is supreme!!!! 5 |

I have been a Nikon guy for 30 years. I have a ton of lenses and my current favorite Nikon SLR is the D7100. (I prefer the DX format to the FX format for a number of reasons). It's a great still camera, but shoots absolutely terrible video. Sony on the other hand is known for making amazing video cameras, but has struggled to gain market share in the stills world. My wife got an a5000 and I was incredibly impressed with it, but it lacks manual controls--too many menus required to get into the settings. I decided to buy this camera as something more portable than an SLR but with much higher quality images than a typical fixed-lens point/shoot. This camera is amazing. The video looks like the video from an FS100. The stills are as good as the ones from my Nikon D7100. The autofocus is as fast as any DSLR. It can do ANYTHING a DSLR can do, and a few things they can't. This may be the future of cameras. A DSLR is starting to look like something I don't really need anymore. My only complaint is that the battery is pretty small and the battery life could be better. So buy a couple. It has enough manual controls and assignable buttons that you can set it up to be able to change settings/focus/mode/etc in just a few actions and once you get it set up, the darned thing is absolutely fantastic to use. The kit lens is sharp and has optical stabilization built in which works in both stills and video mode! Crazy cool. Honestly, I haven't been so amazed by a camera in a long time. For the money? Best camera I have ever owned. Buy a battery charger with the camera....Sony is too cheap to include one with the camera and expects you to charge it through a USB cable. Lame Sony! 5 |

I love this camera, I have a Nikon F3 which is a film camera, however it took great pictures, since digital came out I have researching the Nikon D750, D810 and the D850. I love to enlarge my photos and having a high megapixel format was important to me, I ordered the D810 however the sales were flying out the door and B & H had it on back order, I then decided to spend the additional monies to purchase the D850 and after studying videos on the operational aspects of this camera I shot the first 3 pictures using my wife as the model and her portrait is now in a 12 x 16 frame on our wall. I can't wait for the Holidays that are coming up to create more memories. 5 |

I was ready to purchase the Nikon D850 and normally purchase directly from Nikon. I checked with B&H for comparison, and while the camera body was only $3.00 less, B&H offered a basic kit which included about $250 worth of accessories for only $70.00. I ordered on a Sunday and received everything on Thursday, in perfect condition. An excellent overall experience! 5 |

I have always gotten a Busch guide when buying a new Nikon body. Busch offers a personal, easy to read, knowledgeable and comprehensive guide to setting up and using the D850. The D850 is a complex body. It's not a camera that can just be picked up and used. Busch provides a thorough explanation with visual support of recommended settings and how to use the camera in a variety of settings . It's an invaluable friend. 5 |
