Nikon F2 Film Camera

I shoot film for two reasons: 1. Film lets me shoot with old cameras. (My favorites right now are the Nikon F2 and Nikon S2. I also shoot a Nikon FE which I like very much.) Older cameras don't necessarily take "better" pictures, but I think I take better pictures with them. I have to slow down and be more deliberate. This doesn't mean I can't shoot something that is happening at high-tempo, but I just have to plan better. 2. Film renders images differently than one of my digital cameras. Colors, contrasts, dynamic range -- all different. Not necessarily "better," but different. Better is a matter of opinion based on whatever criteria you establish. Sometimes "better" is not technically superior; it just looks really nice. So, this review is following my first roll of Lomo100. I was shooting my F2 with a 50mm f/2. Lomo100 has a nice clean look about it. Contrast is pretty good in strong outdoor light where you'll probably be using 100 speed film anyway. Colors are not super-saturated, but nice. It renders color somewhere between Portra and Ektar. It's a tad bit grainy for a 100 speed film -- but see note 2 above -- NBD. It's inexpensive and fun to shoot. Although I shoot more expensive films on occasion, I have a hard time justifying it in a 35mm camera when you can have a great time with stuff like this, Fuji C200, and Agfa 200 (if you can still find some).

Back in the 1970's me and my Nikon F2 had a Nikkor reflex. They were an odd duck to use but fun. With the new 400 and 500 f8 reflex lenses by Tokina, and my getting back into film, it made sense to grab one of these inexpensive telephoto's to hook up to my refurbished Nikon F2p. They are lightweight, with manual focus, and an f-stop that requires some fast film. With modern post processing, the loss of contrast is easily fixed. Unusual doughnut shaped Bokeh can be used to your advantage but some folks find the out of focus areas messy. It works very well for night time shots when mounted to an astronomical guided tripod.

I started out with digital but have gone back to film for the colors and process. I find that I shoot a lot less but score more keepers when I’m shooting film. With digital, I end up with too many photos and less keepers. Something about the mindset. However, with the X-Pro3, I find myself shooting as if I’m shooting film. This is the closest thing you get without actually shooting film. This camera is a beast. It’s Fujifilm’s most sacred camera. They fund the development of this camera with their other mainstream cameras like the X-T3. It’s like how Porsche treats their 911. The OVF is a blast to use, especially with the Fujicrons (f2 lenses). Mine is glued to the XF 35 f2; no blockage in the viewfinder. The OVF allows you to live the moment a little more authentically because it’s pretty much real life, unaltered. I’m glad I got the Dura Black because I feel this camera will be with me for a long time. I may even pass it on to my kids. This is Fujifilm’s most proud camera.

I have wanted one of these since the 70's when this bag was produced to hold thelegendary Nikon F2. I owned this camera but did not own the bag at that time. Now this legendary bag will hold my latest Nikon D500's and four lenses. Plus filters, flash units and a variety of other toys. This bag has been produced for over 40 years and is still going strong. It is asrelevant today as it was then. Congratulations to Domke on this hallmark bag.

Well designed, accurate and portable. Will use it with my Nikon F2 DE-1 eye level camera. Having this portable meter plus an all mechanical camera relieves me from relying on an old classic camera's ifee TTL metering system.

I needed to send my Nikon F2 Photomic for service, and I didn't have the original body cap. It's very nice that although my camera is more than 40 years old, I can still get a good body cap from Nikon that fits perfectly and seals against the lens mount and prevents dust from getting into my camera body. Unlike the replica or other caps that fit Nikon cameras (aside from a few that have O-rings) this cap seals the camera well. The fit and finish of the cap is also very nice. If I lost it, I would definitely buy another one.

I like this grip. I have always bought the OEM accessories for my Nikon cameras. I go back to the Nikon F2 days. If you ever turn your camera vertical for a shot the grip is a must. The extra battery is great too. Especially now you can use the en-el18 battery. You will need the adapter end cap for this grip. The cost is around $25.00 for this Nikon part. My thoughts if your buying a $3,300.00 camera why buy a third party knock off accessories that may have fit, or performance problems. I only have two cons 1) Pricing, 2) The attaching wheel is small making it a little harder to install, and remove.

I recently started shooting film again so i was looking for a quality bag that can fit a Nikon F2, 24mm f 2.8, 50mm 1.4and 105 2.5.. I saw a bargain online for this bag and of course, because it was a very good deal, i got it , even if most of the Q and A on this said the bag was for a smaller kit.. Anyway i said to myself if my kit didnt all fit id fing another use for the bag. I was pleasantly surprised that when it arrived and i tried it out not only did it fit the F2 and the three lenses i still had enough room for my Sekonic L398 Peak Design slide strap and 10 rolls of film( taken out of the box) And another thing is, the other day i got me another F2 camera and yes it DOES fit in the side pocket, and a second Peak Design Slide Strap goes in there as well.. Awesome!! Ill be looking at getting a larger Billingham for my EOS 1Dx kit soon!!

I had a F2 along time ago but it was stolen. I missed the bag more than the camera!
