Nikon Professional Camera Settings

Finally a true professional DX camera from Nikon. Best DX camera since D300. Only thing I don't like moving from D7200 is losing U1 & U2 settings. What I don't miss is all the auto settings & pop up flash. 5 |

This is my first Fuji Camera and first mirrorless. My last camera was a Nikon entry-level DSLR around 10 years old. It was time for an upgrade. This camera is compact but packs a big punch. I'm amazed by how much you can customize through the settings. Taking some time looking through the menus and exploring the settings before you take it out makes a world of difference. I also took some time to create my own custom film sims which makes shooting so much fun and creative. I practice film photography and having this digital option with somewhat traditional dials complements my film practice perfectly. 5 |

As a person who loves taking pictures--GOOD pictures--but has no desire to go professional, I felt constrained by my pathetic Nikon point-and-shoot, but didn't want to invest thousands upon thousands of dollars in DSLRs that various friends of mine had purchased. This camera is the PERFECT in-between camera. It quickly takes clear, crisp, pictures with beautiful color. Even with just auto mode, I feel like I get what I want when I press the shutter button, whereas before I would have to fiddle around with settings upon settings to try and get something satisfactory. This camera also has fun art modes to give your picture cool effects--great for those of us who are more Picasa than CS5 :) In sum, this camera was exactly what I was looking for. I just want GREAT pictures on-the-go without spending a bundle. This camera delivers, but has so much other functionality that it enables (and challenges me) to expand my knowledge of photography without feeling like I have to throw down my life savings to do so. Plus, could you ask for a better, or more retro-chic travel camera?? I argue no! :) Happy shooting! 5 |

I'm a hobbyist, still using some of the preset settings. Worked well. Switched to manual, and you have yourself a very professional camera. Outstanding for newbies that want to compete with experienced pro's. I have received glowing comments from the work. Get a real good fluid head/tripod, ZR2000 LANC controller and you're in business for real. Stunning results. 5 |

I'm a film production student, so I bought this as my first professional camera. I love it so far--it's a great in-between for industry freelancing and personal use. Since I'm familiar with the G4/5s and I read the manual, I know the ins and outs of the camera and it's really easy to use. Sometimes the settings are a little touchy and my clock constantly needs to be set, but it's not a big deal. It also came completely kitted out. I love the bag and accessories kit. I looked at other websites offering the same camera for the same price but without all the awesome goodies. B&H's version came with a bag, a neck strap, an extra battery, and a lens hood! I'd recommend this product to anyone looking for more than an amateur camera, but if you're going for professional or semi-professional use, you'll only be happy if you know your settings and formats. 5 |

Camera is amazing. It is light and takes very good photos. I have been using the Nikon D800 so this camera is much lighter then the D800 and the ISO is rated much higher on the Z6 which is one of the reasons why I acquired this camera. It is as if it sees in the dark and it does so with little to no noise even at high ISO settings. The camera does take a little getting familiar with the settings and controls however if you are using a Nikon now you will be able to pick it up quickly. The FTZ adapter works great on all my Nikkor lens and on all by one Sigma (150 2.8 macro) which will not allow for auto focus...otherwise all other lens work with any restrictions. My only complaint so far with this camera is the auto focus. It is good in well lit conditions however in dim and low contrast areas it is a bit slow and will spend time looking for its target. Battery life is not as good as a DSLR however it is not all that bad. I can actually use my current Nikon batteries as well and that was also a plus...although I am told that I can not charge the battery in camera with the old batteries and only with the new battery but I have not tired it and honestly I never would personally. I am supper happy with about this camera. I only wish the auto focus was a bit better but I can see myself using this camera more then others for many shoots. I just do not think that for me it is good enough for my only camera. Give it a few more years and I am sure the mirror-less cameras will completely pass the performance of the DSLR models but for now they both have their ups and downs. 5 |

I upgraded my Nikon from the D5200 to the D7500. I love to take nature and wildlife pictures and use a Tamron 18-400 lens for my all around picture shooting. I did put on my Nikon nifty 50 prime lens to try my first shot with this camera. Wow, I was amazed at the clarity of a simple in the house shot I took. I was hesitant to purchase the D7500 when I saw that they had dropped the megapixels to 20.9 from the 24.1 mp I had on my Nikon D5200. But I love this camera and I'm still learning where to go for some of my camera settings. I have used the WI-FI settings to send some of my shots to my cell phone and so far have had no issues. It 's been pretty easy to do. I like the feel of the camera in my hands, I was use to one SD card slot already so that was no problem for me. I did purchase an extra battery. The weather has turned pretty cold here so haven't had a lot of chances to get out there and really put it to the test just yet. I am excited to see how much I can grow in my photography using this camera soon. 5 |

I switched from Nikon after about 8 years, and I couldn’t be happier. The guided settings are nice and the camera is easy to learn off of too. It takes a very high quality picture. 5 |

Loving the Z6 from day 1. Was able to get comfortable with it within an hour or two of adjusting settings, as the menu is the familiar Nikon's excellent menu system (organized, so easy to find anything quickly). Amazing IQ and Nikon color from this BSI sensor. The body is solid, good quality construction, top notch ergonomics and weather sealing, which Nikon is no stranger to. AF-S is spot on, much better than my previous DSLR, and no need to AF fine tune. AF-C is very good, including eye AF, aside from what you may hear in online reviews, and Nikon continues to issue improvements via FW updates. You can easily get anywhere from 600-1500 shots from this camera, if not more, depending on settings and how you shoot. Pay no attention to the CIPA ratings, their test methods are not optimized for mirrorless cameras yet. IBIS, EVF and live view are excellent, the FTZ adapter has been seamless with the G lenses that I've used so far - everything works, and the new Nikon Z lenses are amazing. Above all, this camera is a pure pleasure to shoot and just feels like a real camera in your hands, not some tech gadget. 5 |

Big, bright electronic viewfinder (great for those who wear glasses)! Silent shutter (w/o flash), and even the regular shutter is pretty quiet. Three user settings to recall desired parameters. Auto white balance seems improved over earlier Nikon DSLRs. Touch screen makes it easy to change settings or you can use the menus and selector if you wish. FTZ adapter for Nikon AF-S lenses (with focus motors built in). Hopefully Nikon or 3rd party will release an adapter that has a focus motor built in for the Nikon lenses without focus motors, although you can still use manual focus most of those lenses. The extra stabilization this camera has for the sensor itself appears to improve results with longer lenses like the Nikon AF-S 70-300mm IS. The small nub allows you to easily move the focus point, or you could also use the larger controller and button. Pressing the nub while in AF-C Auto gives you a focus area that will automatically track the subject around the frame. Minor gripes: No built-in flash, the older low-cost wireless remote will not work with this model (need to upgrade to the newer one), no 4x5 crop option (only the Z7 has this one), no cover protecting the sensor from dust (TBD if this causes issues over time), and only 1 card slot for the (expensive) XQD cards. FWIW, I have never experienced a card failure while shooting digital cameras from Olympus, Canon, and Nikon since the early 2000s. Bottom line: There is a lot to like about this mirrorless camera. If you are looking to upgrade to a Nikon full frame camera, I wouldnt hesitate to get this one over one of the Nikon DSLR models, which I suspect will eventually become obsolete by this technology. 5 |
