The Nikon Z50 is an excellent complement to and a suitable transition from my Nikon D7100. It's Nikon's first APS-C mirrorless camera. A similarly-equipped Z6 would be more than three times as much (w/comparable full-frame 24-70mm and 80-400mm lenses) and would render my current APS-C glass obsolete. I always thought that full-frame lenses were the way to go for APS-C cameras because of the “sweet spot” argument, thereby avoiding the marginal corner performance of most non-professional lenses. This is self-defeating in the sense that one pays for the full-frame coverage and has to accept the concomitant weight penalty. The Z50 takes normal SD memory cards [albeit only one slot - SD/SDHC/SDXC (UHS-I)], and has a built-in flash that is lacking in the Z6 and Z7. Both kit lenses appear to have ultra-sharp optics, fast autofocus and are incredibly lightweight. Unfortunately, their lens shades are excluded from the kit. The FTZ Lens Mount Adapter became the decision-maker by B&H's offering it as a bundled savings. This makes my favorite compliment of Nikon Landscape & Macro Two Lens Kit with 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR & 40mm f/2.8G as well as my Nikon DX Fisheye 10.5mm f2.8G ED totally usable. DX lenses on full-frame Z6 or Z7 bodies automatically crop their sensors to DX, so you're discarding more than half your sensor area and getting less resolution than by using them on a Z50. Granted, the Z50 lacks in-camera five-axis image stabilization, but alternatively, the lenses do have vibration reduction. If you own a majority of DX lenses, I highly recommend the Z50 mirrorless alternative. 5 |

Just bought a Z50 kit with two lenses. Needed an extra battery and I only buy Nikon batteries. Great battery! 5 |

I was very skeptical of jumping into the mirrorless fray with the Z series cameras and lenses. I read a few reviews on the Z6 and Z7 but felt the pricing was a little bit out of my budget for a walk around or travel camera since I use a D750 with a whole host of top Nikon glass. So, after a few months of release of the Z50, I decided what the heck for a reasonable entry level of money I could find out for myself what the fuss was all about with the mirrorless trend. If you've owned Nikon digital DSLR's, the Coolpix series, Nikon 1; the Z50 is relatively easy to figure out the knobs, control wheels and software menus. Although, the menu system for the i button didn't sink in until about a week of usage. After I read the manual again, the menu's began to be intuitive. I do mostly shoot with the vivid mode with the sharpening bumped up to 8 or 9 and the saturation to 3 or 4 for a very close to Fuji Velvia or even souped up Fuji Provia look. To say I am hooked is an understatement. I immediately ordered the 50-250 lens along with the 46mm UV, polarizer and neutralizer filter package from Hoya for the 16-50mm lens. The waterfall picture was taken with the polarizer and ND filter attached. I also purchased initially the FTZ adapter to use some Nikon glass such as my manual 50mm f1.8, 70-200mm f2.8 AFS VR and 80-400mm f4.5-f5.6 AFS VR. The results are stunning. Although I would be comfortable using the 16-50mm and 50-250mm kit lens full time and get good photos. The only caution with the Z50 is obviously the AF is not as snappy on longer lenses used for such for things as wildlife. At this price, I wouldn't expect the Z50 to match the D750's AF capabilities with such glass. Overall, I don't think you can get a much better package than the Z50 for a travel and day to day photo opps set-up. Of course, B&H's service and shipping are first class. Would highly recommend both the camera and B&H to anyone. 5 |

I finally bought a mirrorless Nikon camera after years of hesitation. I bought the Z50 because of the extensive amount of Nikon lenses I already owned. I purchased the FTZII adaptor at the same time. My main camera for land/sports photography is my D500. My underwater camera is a D7100. The Z50 is a marvelous little camera. It does everything a camera of its caliber is supposed to do and much more. I have yet to find any issues with using the adaptor and any of my Nikon and Sigma lenses. I you are DX format camera owner and have considered buying this camera, do it, you won't be unhappy. I only bought the body because I already own similar lenses that the similar Z Lenses didn't add any advantage for. 5 |

This bag fits my Nikon Z50 fine, with the two kit lenses and a few accessories in the side pockets. The zippered pocket in the top of the bag is quite small but can fit extra SD cards well. 5 |
