Nikon Z50 Vs D7500

I went from using my D600, D7100, D5600, D7500 to using the Nikon Z50. And let me tell you the autofocus is by far better on this Z50. Especially having the eye autofocus. And the shutter is so quiet compared to the cameras I previously mentioned. Love this camera.

I have been very pleased with the new Nikon Z50 2 Lens kit. It is much smaller and lighter than my other cameras, and it is very comfortable to handle and use. It just feels right when I pick it up. Both lenses focus quickly and quietly, and they produce sharp photos. They are well matched to the camera, and in spite of the plastic construction, they seem well made. The photos are very sharp and crisp and compare very favorably with the photos that I take with my D7500. Being a Nikon owner already, I had no trouble using the menu system. Since there are fewer buttons, it does take a little adjusting to shift from the dslr to the mirrorless, but once I had used the camera for a few days, the adjustment became easier. I love the eye autofocus. What really makes me happy is the video performance of the camera. The Z50's video autofocus is so much better than the the D7500! One thing that is quite different is the battery life. Managing the battery is much more important with the Z50, and I am very glad that I purchased a second battery. In summary, I love the Z50 and I'm glad I made it my first mirrorless camera.

I have not had this Z50 very long. However I have done a bit of test shooting and I have tried it with a long term project. For the test shooting I am using the Z50 along with the FTZ adapter. The adapter is very clunky but not too heavy. I am using the 35 DX and 40 DX Micro lens. The 35 in particular performs very well on the Z50. It seems an equal to using this lens on my D7500. I have been doing a long term project of digitizing 35mm slides shot in the 1950s and 1960s by my late father. I tried doing this with the Z6 when that camera came out. At the time auto focus was terrible. Actually useless for digitizing slides so I sold the Z6. I bought a D7500 and that has worked very well. I have been using Nikons ES2 slide holding gadget. I wanted to transition from a DSLR style camera to mirrorless for this project but did not want to spend the money on the Z6II. Hence buying the Z50. The Z50 works very well digitizing the slides; equally as well as the D7500 but I am now able to more accurately manual focus when auto focus is not producing the best results. Overall I am very pleased thus far with this small, light and very capable camera. I highly recommend the Z50. Please Nikon, produce some DX lenses that are equal to their new S series lenses for the Z mount. Doing this Nikon you'll have an excellent APS-C mirrorless camera system.

The z50 is an amazing camera that weighs nothing and seems to perform very well (having it for only 2 weeks). The autofocus appears to be responsive. I purchased the z50 to replace my D7500 and so far no regrets. Touch screen works just as well. I’ve used the Tamron 150-600mmg2 and autofocus doesn’t seem any worse than what I was used to on the D7500. I think Nikon got this one right.
