Is it as expensive as a used malaise-era sedan? Yes. Should you consider anything else? No. This is the second Recoil kit I've had, and for good reason. I loved the first one so much, when the budget came through to get some new gear I immediately had this on the list. These are built extremely well, very robust, and it looks even better in person. You definitely look like a pro when you're holding the Recoil. I recommend splurging for the Tornado grip accessory, though. It's definitely something that benefits from having two arms, and the Tornado is extremely handy for extra balance, and focus control. 5 |

At first I tried out the Media Mod for my Hero 8 Black, but I was not impressed with having to remove it from the mod every time, to change the battery. I then ordered the GoPro Mic adapter. Works perfect, and with the SmallRig cage changing batteries is fast and easy. Highly recommend. 5 |

If you want to use a third party mic with a Hero 9, you need the Media Mod for Hero 9. This adapter does not work with the Hero 9 as of this moment, unless you have the Media Mod, which means that you don't need to buy this, because the Media Mod already has a 3.5mm port for your external microphones. I received a message from GoPro support by email, where they clearly said that this adapter requires the media mod. Which is contradicting to the purpose of the media mod. If you have the media mod, you don't need this adapter. 5 |
