Oc White Microphone Stand

I just finished installing the OC White Deluxe Microphone Arm and Riser System to replace an older clamp mount boom arm that was always getting in my way. The clear difference between the old mount and the new mount is in the weight. The OC White is clearly a much more solid product the stem that connects with the riser is solid metal. On my old system the stem was rolled hollow metal. The OC White Springs provide a much greater level of support. The OC White Microphone Arm provides a greater reach. True it was an expense but the arm and riser from OC White are worth the added money if you have a need to support a microphone. I would recommend this product to any professional.

I've used a mic boom in my project studio for over 35 years. Being a professional voice talent I've voiced commercials from a home studio since the late 70s. My set up is a Neumann mic hanging from a hinged boom, very similar to what you'd find in a radio station. The OC White mic arms are standard features in the broadcast industry. They last forever and do the job better than any other brand. Every other mic boom/arm is merely a copy of the OC White. And I haven't found one yet that is built as well. No negatives about this mic arm...it's all positive. They cost a bit more than the competators but there is good reason...they are the best.

Base is solid and works perfectly with my OC White 29 mic arm!

I use this on an OC White arm and the combo is perfect. I have a heavy large diaphragm condenser and was using a metal pop screen on a gooseneck so I wasn't actually planning to use this pop filter. I was after the shock mount. Long & short is mic fits and is held perfectly and the mount does what it does well. Best thing? Not working about sagging elastic! Pop filter works as well or better than the metal one. Save some money on a pro pop filter and just get the studio kit.

Updating my review having also bought and used the Rode PSA1+...The OC White is as good or better than the PSA1+ at everything except 1) the mount options for the OC is not as good as the Rode version because OC White only gives you the clamp, Rode gives you the clamp and the double-disk mount for pre-cut holes, plus the Rode clamp has a lower profile allowing you to sneak it in to more places and 2) the OC White cable is built in. It's a Monster cable (which would be top-of-the-line at, say, Best Buy), but if you want to upgrade to Mogami or some such, then the Rode let's you buy your own. But the OC White is better than the Rode at a) OC White allows a more acute angle in the arm for more adjustment options, b) the final knuckle on the Rode just doesn't tighten very much, so you're stuck with what gravity wants, with the OC it will truly lock in place. a) and b) together mean that you can move your mic around to more positions/angles that defy gravity. c) Rode also has fussy bolts that get in the way of, say, the SM7B's XLR connection, whereas the OC is open and easy. d) the Rode neoprene jackets for the ulna/radius style arm is fine, but the OC White has a better-looking flat black hard jacket for the arms. and finally e) the OC White is cheaper especially if you consider it comes with the monster XLR cable. So basically, if you don't care about the cable, get the OC White--I think the PSA1+ itself is overrated). If you want to go to the nines with your cable, get the Rode PSA1+ and find your amaze-balls cable. Both options are excellent, however, I think OC White is getting shafted on their 4 rating. If the PSA1+ is a 5, then the OC White is too.

This is not a very exciting product, but it works perfectly with my OC White mic arm. It is sturdy and should outlast me. I used 10-24 screws (with washers and nuts) and drilled holes to mount it to my desk. The screws are not included, but cost pennies at the local hardware store.

Used this to mount the OC white mic arm to the wall, the mount is heavy duty and has worked wonderfully. For some reason the picture isn't in the position in which you would actually mount this, I guess it was easy for the photographer to take a picture by standing it up like this but the side its standing on is what goes on the wall.

I am very satisfied with this OC White Mic Arm. The springs keep it where I want it to stay and it is easy to swing out of my way when I am editing my recording. Using it for a desktop mic.
