Old Sony Stero Receiver And Good Headphones

Old school integrated amp with digital inputs. That's a good thing. It gives me a feeling of quiet confidence. It replaced an old Onkyo receiver that died. I bought an internet radio, so I didn't need a receiver. I use it in my bedroom stereo, so I don't need massive power; I doubt that I'll ever strain the 60 WPC power rating. I'm not an audiophile, and it sounds just fine to me. I wish I could offer glowing flowery reviews, but this thing just sits there and works just fine. It just sort of exudes understated quality and, hopefully, reliability. I've only had it for about three weeks, but so far I'm more than satisfied. 5 |

I've had this Sony stereo receiver for a few days now and it has surprised me in a very good way with performance for the price. I'm comparing this receiver to a Yamaha receiver that costs more than three times as much and the Sony sounds as good, if not better than the Yamaha unit, and both sound very good to my ears (paired with Q-Acoustics speakers). For listening to music in 2022, this receiver has just the features you need: phono input for vinyl enthusiasts (phono inputs have all but disappeared from stereo gear), bluetooth for streaming from phones, tablets and PCs, and above all, great sound quality. 5 |

These worked great for recording a two-person interview with my Sony a7iii mirrorless camera. The sound quality is great, even in a windy outdoor area. I had used the previous version, which were good but only had one transmitter, and these are better in every way. The biggest drawback to me is their somewhat bulky size which tends to pull on light clothing. You can always plug a small lav mic into them and hide the transmitter behind your subject's back, but that can limit the range somewhat. Also, on my Sony a7iii at least, the sound level going into the camera was quite high. With the receiver set at 0 and the camera input level set to 1 I was still getting clipping in the levels. I couldn't find any discussion online about that, so I tried setting the Rode receiver to -12db and the camera input in the middle at 14, and it sounded good. I'm not sure if that is specific to Sony cameras but it's something to be aware of. All in all the Rode is easy to use and delivers good quality sound at a great price. 5 |

I replaced an old Sony receiver and I wondered if today's electronics were as good as yesterdays. I'm super pleased with the value of this unit. I love the Bluetooth capability that allows me to pipe Spotify tunes from my i phone to my home stereo. Excellent sound quality and does everything that I need. Awesome BANG for the Buck! 5 |

Replaced an older 3 ohms Sony receiver with this 6 ohms receiver and find it to be a good value for the money. It was easy to setup and the EasySetup did a good calibrating the 5.1 system for my small/medium sized room. However, it was not apparent on the packaging (or from the in-store audio person) that it is did not support my perfectly fine passive Sony Subwoofer and required an Active (powered) Subwoofer, causing me an unscheduled purchase of a SACS9. I would like this receiver even more if it had a lower profile, similar to my older low-profile Sony Home Theatre receiver. The volume knob is overly large and takes much of the height of the unit. Since most people use their remote control for surround sound volume control, it is not clear why such a large knob was deemed necessary (again thinking low profile is more desirable in my cabinet). That said, all the buttons and knobs function well and easily. 5 |

Just installed the receiver after my previous Sony Receiver started to act up after 35 years. Like the Bluetooth feature. Also, Phonograph Support like my previous receiver. 5 |
