Olympus 17Mm F2 8

I used this filter on Nikon 17mm-35mm f2f.8, 24mm-70mm, 70mm-200mm f2.8 lenses on a 10th day photo shot in Sedona, and the Grand Canyon and the results have been spectacular. I don't know why I waited so long to buy it, but I'll never leave home without it.

Works great for using my 58mm filters and hood on my Olympus 17mm 1.8.

Today, 12-11-19, my Olympus 17mm 1.8 came to my door. At 80 yrs. old, I took my photography years ago with my Pentax K1000, So, I mounted the 17mm on my Olympus M10 Mark 111 and took a manual shot in low light. It was Great !!!! Several shots outdoors with this lens and I love it. I switched to auto focus, which is very fast and the details are very sharp also. Buy this Olympus 17mm 1.8 and you will not go wrong. I use B+W filters to protect all of my lenses. I purchased this one for an Olympus 17mm 1.7 lens, and it threaded onto the lens very smoothly. I am generally pleased with the quality of this particular brand of filter?good glass and solid construction.

I thought the 17mm Olympus had a fast auto focus until I got this, this thing is lightning fast and I couldn't be happier with it. I shoot a lot of candid photos with friends and some street photography so the fast auto focus is fantastic in all these scenarios and exactly what I would want. Yes it's plastic but a much nicer type compared to the other kit lenses and it still looks at home on my Pen-f. Focus ring has a really nice drag to it as well.

I got this to attach to the Olympus 17mm 1.8 Lens Hood (LH-48B). This fits perfectly on the end of the lens hood. I can quickly take this lens cap on and off the lens hood. It makes it easier to keep the hood attached all the time.

The reviews of this lens were good as I was researching the Laowa 17mm, but I was still prepared to be disappointed with a sub-$150 lens. The reviews were spot-on, however: this is a great lens! Image quality is comparable to the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 I recently sold. The chromatic aberration is MUCH more controlled on this lens compared to the Olympus. Obviously you give up auto focus with the Laowa, but the Olympus also costs over 3x the price of this lens. This lens is also heavier and longer than the Oly 17 (same filter size though, so that's a plus!). This lens feels like it has great build quality. The focus ring is stiff but smooth; the aperture ring is clicked and has the right amount of resistance. Overall this is a great lens and would be a good start for someone just getting into manual focus lenses with the MFT system.

I purchased the Compact sized pouch to help protect an Olympus E-P1 with 17mm lens. The pouch is a perfect fit, with even a little extra room to spare. These Op/Tech neoprene pouches are just what you need when you want to keep your camera safe, but not buried in a bulky camera bag or pack. Highly recommended!

I also have the Olympus 17mm f1.8 and the Olympus 12-40 f2.8 PRO lenses and took a set of images indoors in dull conditions and outdoors in sunny conditions. Amazingly in overlaying the images in Photoshop, I found it difficult to distinguish them. This lens doesnt resolve the red as well, (based on red leds on a clock) and the colours require a little tuning (reaching towards red a touch), but the result is brilliant. The lens was tested at F4, F8 and F16, at 17mm and with ISO 200 on a tripod. Lens flare is mimimal. So why then would I hold onto the other two lenses? Well at max reach at 42mm, the max. aperture is f5.6, so obviously for dimly lit situations you will be stretching the ISO limits. So if you're mindful of the aperture limitations, this lens can be your in pocket configuration and you'll produce brilliant results.
