Olympus Camedia C 740 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera

The SX-740 is capable of excellent photos, even at the long end of the (135-equiv.) 960mm zoom range. One important downside with superzooms like this is atmospheric turbulence, particularly in warmer weather or over bodies of water. That aside, I highly recommend this camera for getting really close to relatively distant subjects, with caveats for flat or dim lighting, subject movement, and a users ability to hold the camera steady. The cameras IS (image stabilization) is quite good, but the 960mm equivalent focal length needs that plus a very steady hand or high shutter speed. Such high shutter speeds are hindered by the minimum aperture of f6.9 when shooting at the full zoom extension. 5 |

I get a lot of use out of these little Canon Powershots because they do everything I need a camera for and didn't need to pay a fortune for a bunch of camera equipment that does the same thing. I started with action cams and discovered there are times when the small and light Powershot can give better results with the addition of 20MP pixel quality and optical zoom. The camera will record your voice in sync while recording video for excellent clarity. The 740 is quite versatile and provides stunning close-ups as well as sharp distance shots. Quick to put into operation, just strap it to your wrist so it won't be lost, forgotten, or stolen. A full charge on the battery should allow for a full day of taking snapshots and short videos. It is the true point & shoot with lots of settings, and the pictures you create will retain their superb sharpness even when enlarged. The fact is you don't need to know anything about cameras, just point and shoot and the camera will do all the necessary adjustments automatically. The LCD folds out and up, raising the chances that the subject will be easier to spot and keep in view. The zoom is incredibly powerful and allows for getting a close up look at things very far away. Zooming out all the way requires a solid rest like a tripod or gimbal to help hold the camera steady. But the ability to zoom out and recognize what that little dot out there on the horizon is, is just simply amazing. A smartphone camera can't do that! Just introduced a few days before submitting my pre-order on August 2, this camera further continues all the advancements of the 730 now with the addition of 4k video. The 740 is at least better than the best Android and iPhone cameras. As one reviewer elsewhere noted, Canon should put a phone receiver in their cameras and compete for phone sales. 5 |

I bought this along with a Zoom H1 Ultra-Portable Digital Audio Recorder and they work amazing together. I use them for my youtube channel where I do hidden camera pranks and so far I had no problems! 5 |

I received a free ZOOM Digital Monocular in exchange for a review. I was very impressed with the quality. It's easy to use, light and compact. It has a nice sleek feel to it and easily fits in your pocket so you can take it anywhere you go. I really like the zoom feature. It's a button you push and it has 3 different zoom depths. When you press the button it automatically zooms in and you don't have to wait, it's super cool. I love that it takes videos and pictures. It also comes with an SD card so you can download all your videos and pictures onto your computer. I would highly recommend this product to anyone in the market for a video camera/camera. 5 |

I have this type of folding lens hood for my Canon film camera and wanted the same type of lens hood for my Olympus digital camera that I use quite a bit, as I didn't care for the hard lens hood it came with. I also ordered the wide angle lens hood for the digital also, but haven't used that one yet. With the 'folding rubber lens hood', I can leave it on my camera all the time, till I'm ready to use it. I've used it when taking close up shots of flowers and it helps with blocking the glare. I would recommend this product to anyone that wants something quick and easy to use. 5 |

I have been an 35mm SLR user since 1964 and an Olympus digital SLR user since 2004. I have eight Oly digital lenses and this 14-35mm f2 lens is the ultimate. Output at all f-stops from 2 -11 at any focal length are spectacular. You will not notice too great a difference on a 4x6 print; but on an 11x14 and 13x19 prints you will notice, as they are phenomonal. Clarity and color accuracy are superb. I thought the 11-22mm lens was excellent; but this 14-35 lens is in a class by itself. Photos with great contrast are easily handled. Indoor low light photos are a piece of cake. Other reviews of this lens have criticized its low light focusing. When I tried the S-AF focus option on the E-3 in low to very low lighting, the focusing was definitely slow; BUT when I switched to C-AF focus option, the focus was dead on and immediate with all focusing and exposure options at all f-stops I tried. In other words, there is no focus problem when you use the camera properly. If you buy this lens, it will be on your camera 80-90% of the time, except when you are shooting wildlife, distance sports, etc. Then you can use Olympus' superb telephoto 50-200mm lens (100-400mm, 35mm equivalent)--couple it with the great Oly 2x extender for a 200-800mm, 35mm equivalent. Folks, don't believe all the negative comments about the small sensor used in the Olympus DSLRs -- when you can print fantastic 13x19 photos (and larger sizes, I'm sure, but 13x19 is the largest my Epson R1800 will print), why bother with a full frame Nikon or Canon beast, unless you'r a professional sports photog and money is no object. For the rest of the camera world, the Olypmus E-system with fabulous digital-specific lenses are way more than adequate. I can't say enough positive comments about this one-of-a-kind lens. You will not be disappointed with this lens. 5 |

I recently purchased an Olympus ep2 camera and the Hadley Digital Bag for it and the optional lens too. This shoulder pad is an excellent addition to this already steller quality bag. The Pad keeps 'slippage' to a non issue. I would recommend this Pad as a great addition to an already great bag, I just wish that at this price point it would have been included. 5 |

I purchased an Olympus PEN-F as a personal collector item. No I'm not a collector, but I wanted this camera because of its superb performance and vintage appeal in a modern digital camera. It is a silver trim body to which I added a silver Kit lens and a brown leather 1/2 case. It looks fantastic and since it was one of the few digital cameras offering an old fashioned screw type remote shutter release, I had to add the final touch. That showed up in the form of a beautiful, natural wood, Soft Shutter Release button. The PEN-F is now complete. TAH DAAH!! 5 |
